The next Batman movie is adding villains, but not everyone is getting their wish. While the plot is mostly secret, we know Colin Farrell will return as the Penguin and Barry Keoghan as the Joker, with more villains expected. Director Matt Reeves has said the main villain will be someone we haven’t really seen in a movie before, sparking lots of guesses. A recent interview has now seemingly removed one potential villain from the list.
Cristin Milioti, who plays Sofia Falcone in the HBO series The Penguin, has confirmed she won’t be appearing in The Batman – Part 2. She told Deadline at the Sundance Film Festival that she’s disappointed she won’t get to bring her character to the big screen with the film franchise.
“Definitively not in the film. Which is a bummer.”
Ally Milioti’s portrayal of Sofia Falcone gained significant attention when she appeared in The Penguin, and her work was critically acclaimed, earning her an Emmy Award, as well as nominations for Golden Globe and Critics’ Choice awards.

Many viewers were upset to learn that Milioti won’t be returning as Sofia Falcone in the next installment, especially since her performance was so well-received.
It would have been fantastic to see the actress’ complex performance in The Penguin alongside Robert Pattinson as Batman, but there might be a good creative reason why she isn’t involved.
Every Villain Reported & Rumored to Appear in The Batman Part 2
Harvey Dent

Okay, I’m officially freaking out! It’s been confirmed – Sebastian Stan is leaving the MCU to play Harvey Dent in The Batman – Part 2! I’m so excited to see him as a villain in what’s already shaping up to be an amazing sequel. He’s going to be a major player, and I can’t wait to see his take on the character.
Whether he’ll become Two-Face in the next movie is still unclear, but it seems likely that the film will explore Harvey Dent’s story as a sympathetic district attorney before he fully becomes a villain and turns against Batman.
Penguin

Colin Farrell, who recently starred in his own series on HBO Max, will be back as The Penguin in The Batman – Part 2. However, his part will be smaller this time, possibly because the story will focus on his growing power as a crime boss in Gotham City.
Joker

I’m really excited to hear Barry Keoghan’s Joker will be back! We last saw him locked up in Arkham, and it sounds like he’ll still be there in the next movie. They’re planning to build his character out slowly as part of the Batman universe, and while he might not be directly involved in Batman’s main case, I’m curious to see how his story unfolds alongside it.
Christopher Dent

According to Deadline’s Justin Kroll, Harvey Dent’s father, Christopher, will play a significant part in The Batman – Part 2. However, the specifics of his role are currently being kept secret.
In DC Comics, Harvey Dent’s troubled upbringing is a key part of his story. His father, Christopher Dent, is portrayed as an alcoholic who was both abusive and emotionally damaging. This abuse – specifically Christopher’s habit of using a coin flip to decide whether to punish Harvey – directly led to Harvey’s later use of a coin to make life-or-death decisions as the villain Two-Face. Harvey’s mental illness is also linked to this difficult childhood.
Scarlett Johansson’s Character

Scarlet Johansson, well-known for her roles in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, is joining the cast of The Batman – Part 2. She’ll be playing a new, potentially dangerous character who could challenge Bruce Wayne.
There was speculation that the actress might play a romantic partner for Bruce Wayne, with many fans hoping she’d be cast as Andrea Beaumont, also known as Phantasm. Another theory suggested she could be Glinda Dent, Harvey Dent’s wife, and secretly be the reason he becomes a villain.
Clayface

Clayface is expected to appear in a live-action DC Universe project soon, specifically in a Batman spinoff focusing on the villain. However, a report from March 2023 indicated he might first appear in The Batman – Part 2.
It’s been a while since we last heard about a potential second Clayface, so I’m not sure if those plans are still happening. But honestly, I wouldn’t be shocked if they threw a curveball and just showed him as one of the villains already locked up in Arkham! It would be a great surprise for fans like me.
Hush

I’m so excited about the potential addition of Hush, also known as Tommy Elliot, to The Batman – Part 2! From what I’ve heard, he’s going to be a villain, and it’s really interesting because he used to be Bruce Wayne’s close friend. It makes the conflict feel much more personal – it’s not just a fight against another bad guy, but a betrayal by someone Bruce once trusted. It’s going to add a whole new layer to the story, especially considering all the other villains already planned!
Court of Owls

Although it’s just speculation right now, it would be exciting to see The Court of Owls as the villains in The Batman – Part 2. They’re a secret society with a long history, made up of Gotham City’s richest and most influential people, and known for their manipulative and underhanded plans.
Adding this threatening group to the story could uncover more about Gotham’s past, and even suggest the Waynes were once involved – which would make Bruce Wayne’s already heartbreaking history even more complex.
