Netflix is planning a sequel to the popular fantasy action film, KPop Demon Hunters, following its huge success. The movie recently earned a Golden Globe for Best Animated Motion Picture and Best Original Song, and it’s up for two Academy Awards this weekend: Best Animated Feature Film and Best Original Song. Already a hit with viewers, KPop Demon Hunters has become Netflix’s most-watched movie since it premiered last June.
After much anticipation, Netflix has confirmed a sequel to the popular animated series, KPop Demon Hunters. Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans, who directed the original, are returning to lead the new installment. While details are still being kept secret, the directing team is bringing back HUNTR/X and seems just as excited as the fans about continuing the story.
As a Korean filmmaker, I’m incredibly proud that audiences are connecting with this story and its characters and want to see more. We’ve created a rich world, and I’m thrilled to share what’s next – this is just the start!
Honestly, after spending so much time with these characters, they really do feel like family. We’ve become totally invested in their world, and I’m genuinely thrilled to see what the creators do with them next. They’re promising to really push these characters – and the whole art of combining music, animation, and storytelling – to new levels, and I, for one, can’t wait to see how it all unfolds.
I have to say, I stumbled upon KPop Demon Hunters almost by accident, as it didn’t have a big launch. But wow, it really caught on! People started talking about it, and it’s been near the top of Netflix’s charts for months now. It’s amazing – Netflix even put it in some theaters because so many of us were rewatching it! And with a 99% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes and over 100 award nominations, it’s clear this film is a huge hit with viewers like me.
This is a developing story with more details to follow.
