HUNTR/X is coming back in another KPop Demon Hunters movie.
Released on Netflix on June 20, 2025, KPop Demon Hunters quickly became a global hit. The animated movie, starring Arden Cho as Rumi, May Hong as Mira, and Ji-young Yoo as Zoey, has received numerous award nominations and wins. It’s currently nominated for two Academy Awards: Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song.
The story of KPop Demon Hunters centers around HUNTR/X, a popular K-pop girl group who secretly fight demons. Their lives become complicated when they discover their rivals, the Saja Boys, are actually demons themselves. Thanks to its engaging music, vibrant animation, and unique plot, KPop Demon Hunters became a global success, leading to plans for a follow-up.
Netflix confirmed that a sequel to the hit KPop Demon Hunters is happening! Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans, who wrote and directed the first movie – Netflix’s biggest film yet – are returning for the sequel. This project kicks off a new multi-year deal they have with Netflix. The news was released just before the Oscars on March 15th.
