It’s been confirmed that Marvel Studios is working on the ninth sequel in their series, which implies that another franchise will soon have a third film added to it. With Phase 6 (beginning with “The Fantastic Four: First Steps“) of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) expanding even more, there’s an expectation for additional movies that will introduce new tales about characters that fans are already fond of, following the Infinity Saga. One such character is Shuri (played by Letitia Wright), who took on the role of Black Panther during the events of “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever“.

Although it seemed like Shuri was stepping away from her role as a Wakandan hero at the end of Black Panther 2, it has been confirmed that Black Panther will be joining a star-studded cast in Avengers: Doomsday. This suggests that Shuri’s involvement in the action might not be too far off. Additionally, a recent update from Marvel Studios producer Nate Moore in February 2025 hinted at an intriguing development concerning Black Panther’s future.

Moore revealed that the creation and filming of Black Panther 3 is expected to commence not long after the 2027 release of Avengers: Secret Wars. He emphasized his eagerness to return to Wakanda as soon as possible.

We’ve had preliminary discussions with Ryan Coogler; he’s currently wrapping up his film ‘Sinners,’ a highly anticipated project. Once that’s done, we’ll move forward with our plans. However, it won’t be before ‘Avengers’ as that remains our next significant production. This year, we have ‘Thunderbolts’ and ‘Fantastic Four’ in the pipeline, leading up to ‘Avengers.’ As soon as possible, we hope to return to Wakanda.

The news about Black Panther 3 indicates that it’s planned to be the ninth sequel film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), aligning with other upcoming projects such as Avengers: Infinity War, Iron Man 3, and Captain America: Civil War.

It had been suggested earlier that “Black Panther 3” might debut in February 2028, however, considering that Secret Wars has now been postponed until December 2027, there may be adjustments to this schedule. In such a case, the third installment could possibly kick off Phase 7 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

In my humble opinion as a movie critic, “Civil War” served as the epic battleground where Captain America’s squad squared off against Iron Man’s, ultimately resulting in the temporary dissolution of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes – just as Thanos was about to unleash chaos in “Avengers: Infinity War.” Notably, this film also introduced us to Tom Holland’s charming Spider-Man within the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Thor: Ragnarok

In “Thor: Ragnarok,” directed by Taika Waititi, Thor experienced a significant turning point in his journey. This film transformed the character of Thor in numerous ways, primarily through the destruction of Asgard, the death of Odin, and an unexpected encounter with Loki on Sakaar.

Avengers: Infinity War

One standout MCU trilogy movie might be Avengers: Infinity War, as it assembled numerous superheroes to battle Thanos over the Infinity Stones.

From a dedicated cinema enthusiast’s perspective, this movie wasn’t just the prelude to the grand finale of the Infinity Saga; it was also a spectacular gathering of iconic duos. Even though Doctor Doom has stepped up as the chief antagonist in Avengers: Doomsday, Scott’s past encounters and eventual victory over a formidable adversary like Kang, coupled with his expertise on the Quantum Realm, could provide him an edge when it comes to offering strategic advice to the rest of the Avengers as they prepare for the impending Multiversal conflict.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3

Under the guidance of director James Gunn, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 served as a poignant farewell for the original group, yet subtly hinted at an intriguing future for Star-Lord upon his decision to revisit Earth.
