With a new horror sequel arriving later this month, the original 2019 film is gaining popularity again on streaming services. This year has already seen successful follow-ups like 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple and Scream 7, and there are plenty more horror movies on the way. Besides the upcoming sequel, fans can look forward to Insidious 6, another Evil Dead installment, and a Resident Evil adaptation directed by Zach Cregger, among others.
With Scream 7 released, all eyes are now on Ready or Not 2: Here I Come, which arrives in theaters on March 20th. The sequel is directed by the same team as the first film – Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett. The original Ready or Not was a big success back in 2019, earning $57 million at the box office despite only costing $6 million to make.

‘Ready or Not’ Masterfully Blends Horror and Comedy
Besides Samara Weaving, Ready or Not features a talented cast including Adam Brody, Mark O’Brien, Elyse Levesque, Nicky Guadagni, Henry Czerny, and Andie MacDowell. Together, they create a brilliantly scary and funny movie. The film is filled with wildly exaggerated deaths, incredibly dark humor, and surprisingly effective moments of family drama that lighten the mood amidst the chaos of trying to kill Grace.
What truly stands out is Alice Weaving’s performance as the runaway bride. She convincingly changes from an excited new wife into a fierce fighter. Her ability to think on her feet, her genuine emotions, and her sharp wit, even when things get tough, make her a character you can really root for – she’s much more than just the typical ‘final girl’ in a horror movie.
Beyond its entertainment value, Ready or Not cleverly critiques class differences and pokes fun at wealth and privilege, making it a standout film from the 2010s. While it didn’t become a blockbuster, it’s gained a dedicated following over the years, and that’s why fans are so excited for the upcoming sequel.
What Can Fans Expect In ‘Ready or Not 2: Here I Come’?
Picking up right after the first film, Ready or Not 2: Here I Come sees Grace facing another life-or-death game. This time, however, the danger is even greater: not only are the world’s richest and most powerful families hunting her, but they’ve also set their sights on her sister, played by Kathryn Newton.

We were really drawn to the idea of denying the character the rest she’d earned and deserved,” Bettinelli-Olpin explained to SFX Magazine. “Putting her back into a dangerous situation right away, and knowing how talented Samara is, presented a really exciting opportunity and challenge for us as filmmakers.
Okay, I just watched the trailer for Ready or Not 2, and seriously, after waiting seven years, it looks AMAZING! It’s going to be so worth it. While we’re counting down the days until it comes out on March 20th, we can rewatch the first one – it’s currently streaming on Hulu, which is perfect!
