The Minecraft Movie 2: Emma Myers Will Reportedly No Longer Be The Franchise’s Only Female Young Star

A new report indicates that the upcoming Minecraft 2 will feature a new young female character, joining the franchise alongside Emma Myers. The original A Minecraft Movie was a surprising success, earning nearly $1 billion worldwide despite mixed reviews and the typical financial struggles of video game adaptations. Few predicted such a strong box office performance, given the game’s popularity didn’t guarantee a hit film.

I’m so excited about the potential for a Minecraft sequel! I just heard from Daniel Richtman that they’re talking to another young actress to star alongside Emma Myers. Apparently, they’re hoping to start filming Minecraft 2 next month, which is amazing news for fans like me!

According to Richtman, Joey King—the 26-year-old actress known for her roles in The Kissing Booth and The Act—is being considered for a leading role in the upcoming Minecraft 2 movie. While it’s not official yet, Richtman shared that King is currently in discussions for the part.

In A Minecraft Movie, Emma Myers played Natalie, a character written specifically for the film. As for Minecraft 2, Richtman stated it’s currently unknown if Joey King will reprise her role as Alex, or play a brand new character.

Just so you know, Alex is one of the standard characters you can play as in the video game Minecraft. Steve is the default male character (played by Jack Black in the movies), and Alex is the default female character. If King were to play Alex, her role would probably be much like Black’s – a central figure in the story.

Joey King, known for her role in ‘The Kissing Booth’ movies, is being considered for the lead female role in ‘Minecraft 2.’ It’s currently unclear if she’ll play Alex or a brand new character. Filming is scheduled to begin next month, so details should be revealed shortly.

Even if Jenna King isn’t chosen for Minecraft 2, the movie will still feature another female lead. If King is a contender, the filmmakers seem to be searching for a younger actress.

What Will the New Female Minecraft Role Be?

It seems very likely that Alex will be the main female character in Minecraft 2. She’s already a key character in the Minecraft games and made a brief appearance at the end of the first movie, making her a natural fit for the sequel. While some fans speculated an actress known for playing Spider-Man might take on the role, that now appears unlikely.

Steve was the original playable character when the game launched in 2009. Alex wasn’t added until 2014, five years later, making her the second character option. Because of this, Alex is technically newer to the game than Steve.

This might be why the upcoming Minecraft 2 is reportedly considering a younger actress for the role of Alex – potentially Joey King – rather than someone around the same age as Jack Black.
