A hidden detail in the latest trailer for The Super Mario Bros. Movie suggests there might be another boss character. The trailer confirmed that a villain from Super Mario Bros. 2 will appear, but it also hints that the movie could have even more surprises in store regarding its antagonists.
The next Super Mario Bros. Movie will keep Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, Toad, Yoshi, and Rosalina quite busy! While Bowser and his son, Bowser Jr., along with their minions, will be the main threat, other familiar enemies from the Mario games will appear, including Mouser, Megaleg, Clawgrip, Birdo, and even Wart, who hasn’t been seen in a Mario game since Super Mario Bros. 2.

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie Includes A Dino Piranha Easter Egg
In the new movie, Princess Peach and Toad will find themselves in a casino filled with classic and lesser-known Mario enemies. This is where they’ll encounter Wart, and he might be teaming up with Dino Piranha – a design spotted above them at the 1:44 mark in a recent trailer suggests this.
The design is similar to two types of Piranha Plants from Super Mario: Petey and Dino. While Petey is better known, this design likely references Dino Piranha, as he’s the only one of the two who appears in the Super Mario Galaxy games.
This could just be a fun hidden detail, but it might also suggest that Petey Piranha, the dinosaur-like character, will play a part in the game. He’s known for being big and having a large tail, which is how Mario defeats him.
He’d be a good fit for a minor villain role, considering the character is a boss in both Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Galaxy 2. Actually, Dino Piranha is the very first boss players face in Super Mario Galaxy.
Currently, The Super Mario Galaxy Movie only features one boss exclusive to the Super Mario Galaxy games: Megaleg. Many of the villains shown so far appear to come from Super Mario Bros. 2, so it would be great to see more bosses from the Super Mario Galaxy series included, and Dino Piranha would be a perfect addition.

The trailer shows that Wart will cause trouble for Princess Peach, who will have to battle Birdo and the Ninjis – likely Wart’s helpers, just like in Super Mario Bros. 2. It seems Toad and Peach will team up to face a variety of villains from Super Mario Bros. 2.
In the casino level, defeating Wart seems like it will be the last challenge, which makes sense since he’s the main villain. However, The Super Mario Galaxy Movie might have a surprise in store: Dino Piranha could be hidden somewhere in the casino, and unleashed as the area’s ultimate boss.
