
ABC’s new detective drama, which is based on a 39-year-old novel, has broken a five-year record.
The new series, RJ Decker, is based on Carl Hiaasen’s 1987 novel, Double Whammy. It follows the main character as he tries to build a new life as a private investigator in South Florida. Decker is eager to escape his past – a career as a discredited newspaper photographer and a stint in prison – and start over.
ABC’s new drama, RJ Decker, had a strong start, becoming the network’s most-watched 10 PM premiere in five years. The first episode attracted 3.69 million viewers who tuned in live or watched the same day. This is a higher debut audience than the premiere of Big Sky in November 2020.
