As a huge sci-fi fan, I’m always on the lookout for hidden gems, and I recently rediscovered this incredible series on Netflix. It’s a three-season show that really shakes up the whole post-apocalyptic idea, and honestly, the way it handles time travel is some of the most original stuff I’ve ever seen. It’s a shame it hasn’t gotten more attention, especially considering it’s been out for nearly ten years – it’s seriously underrated!

Apple TV currently stands out as the top streaming service for high-quality, thought-provoking science fiction. While Netflix used to take similar risks with the genre in the mid-2010s – producing some of its best sci-fi shows then – it’s become less willing to experiment lately, and many of those early shows were ultimately canceled after a few seasons.

This show is a captivating science fiction series set after a major disaster, and it offers a fresh, unique take on the typical post-apocalyptic story.

Travelers Is One Of The Best Sci-Fi Shows On Netflix

When people think of Netflix’s best science fiction shows, titles like Dark, Russian Doll, and Black Mirror often come to mind. Some might also remember shows like The OA, If I Hadn’t Met You, and 1899. However, Travelers doesn’t get the recognition it deserves and is worth watching.

While it doesn’t explore time travel with the same depth as Dark, this show stands out by focusing on the difficult choices and personal costs of attempting to change the future.

Although Travelers is a post-apocalyptic thriller, it doesn’t focus on the typical scenes of characters battling to survive in a ruined world. The apocalypse isn’t a present danger, but rather a future threat that hangs over everything. The characters work in secret, trying to change the past and prevent a disaster that most people are unaware of.

This “reverse” apocalypse approach completely flips what one expects from the genre.

I’m really hooked on Travelers, and it reminds me a lot of Dark. What I love is how a single event, like something happening during the Great Famine or the Shelter Wars, can completely change the future. The show, especially on Netflix, really makes you stop and think about how even small choices can have huge, disastrous consequences down the line. It’s seriously thought-provoking!
