Star Wars Officially Confirms Cassian Andor Will Return

Although the show Andor has finished, Cassian Andor’s story within the Star Wars universe isn’t quite over. Andor, which concluded on Disney+ on May 13, 2025, after a twelve-episode second season, was initially thought to be the last time audiences would see Diego Luna as the character, given his established fate in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

Marvel Comics announced that the character Cassian Andor will be back in a new Star Wars comic series titled Star Wars: Rogue One – Cassian Andor #1. The story picks up immediately after the end of Season 2 of the Andor series and leads directly into the events of Rogue One.

This special comic marks a decade since Cassian Andor debuted in the Star Wars story with Rogue One, and it depicts his initial mission to the Ring of Kafrene.

Before the events of Rogue One, this thrilling spy story follows Cassian Andor as he undertakes a dangerous mission. He ventures into the chaotic world of Kafrene, dodging Imperial troopers and bounty hunters, all against a ticking clock. Experience the desperate fight for freedom that led to the iconic events of Rogue One, a highly acclaimed Star Wars film.

That’s not the only place that Diego Luna’s fan-favorite scoundrel will appear in 2026.

The mobile game Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes is adding Cassian Andor as a playable character. He’ll be included in a new set of characters themed around the Andor series, as part of the game’s turn-based collectible RPG system.

As a big fan of the show, I love that the new Cassian Andor figure is based on his look from the beginning of Andor Season 2 – specifically, that awesome undercover outfit he wore while posing as a TIE fighter pilot. It’s a really cool detail that shows how much thought went into the design.

Cassian isn’t the only character from the show Andor who will be featured in the special event for Galaxy of Heroes. Dedra Meero, Major Partagaz, Kleya Marki, Vel Sartha, and Cinta Kaz will also be included in the Era of Andor update.

Dedra Meero, a character who met a dark end in Andor Season 2, will be a playable character in Galaxy of Heroes. She’ll appear in her familiar Imperial Security Bureau (ISB) uniform and will align with the Dark Side.

Major Partagaz is another character from the Dark Side appearing in the Star Wars series Andor. He’s a powerful figure, serving as a chairman on the ISB Board of Supervisors, and his appearance remained the same throughout both seasons of the show.

Just like in Andor, Partagaz relies on his ability to think things through to make smart choices and keep his friends safe during fights.

I’m really excited to see Kleya Marki as a playable character alongside Cassian! From what I’ve read, she’s going to be a seriously powerful attacker in the game. And for those who’ve seen Andor, you know exactly why – she was basically Luthen Rael’s right hand, the one who kept the whole rebel operation running smoothly behind the scenes. She’s a total badass and a perfect fit for the squad.

Vel Sartha is a powerful character in Galaxy of Heroes, joining the ranks of the Rebel Fighters. As the leader of the Aldhani heist crew and cousin to Senator Mon Mothma, she’s designed as a strong attacker who can also boost her allies’ damage output.

In January 2026, Orion Kellogg, an executive producer at Lucasfilm Games, shared his enthusiasm for continuing the stories of characters like Cassian from the show Andor, once Season 2 finished airing.

It’s exciting that ‘Andor’ is being recognized during awards season, and people connected with its realistic portrayal of rebels and the challenges of starting a rebellion. We’re bringing characters like Partagaz, Dedra Meero, and new versions of Cassian into our game so players can experience that world firsthand. We want players to feel like they’re actively shaping the rebellion – either contributing to its success or understanding how it can be defeated. That’s what makes this project so engaging – it lets players live out their Star Wars fantasies. This game is also a key part of Lucasfilm’s overall plans.

Now that Andor‘s second season has concluded the stories of these characters, Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes provides a way to honor the show’s achievements, revisit beloved moments, and ensure its lasting impact on the Star Wars universe.

Galaxy of Heroes is a free mobile game where you collect and battle with characters from the Star Wars universe. Developed by Electronic Arts, it’s a turn-based RPG featuring over 500 playable characters. The game is constantly expanding with new additions to its character list.

Created by Tony Gilroy, Andor tells the story of Cassian Andor, a rebel spy, in the years before the events of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. The series stars Diego Luna, Genevieve O’Reilly, Stellan Skarsgard, Denise Gough, Adria Arjona, Kyle Soller, Ben Mendelsohn, and Alan Tudyk.

Why Bringing Back Cassian Andor in 2026 Is Still a Brilliant Move

Even though we know how Cassian Andor’s story ends, he’s still a fan favorite. The comic, Star Wars: Rogue One – Cassian Andor #1, offers extra insight into his background without changing the events of the Disney+ series, providing more context for viewers who are interested in learning more about his journey.

Bringing Cassian Andor to the Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes mobile game is exciting because he’s a popular character, adding to the game’s impressive roster of heroes and villains. Players can now experience and recreate his key moments from the Andor Disney+ series within the game.

Tony Gilroy, the creator of Andor, has stated there won’t be a Season 3, so it’s doubtful we’ll see the character Cassian again in the future. This makes his current appearances potentially the last ones ever, making them especially significant for fans.

Bringing characters from the show Andor into Galaxy of Heroes is a smart move for the Star Wars franchise. It acknowledges Andor‘s reputation as one of the best Star Wars stories ever told, and it gives the popular mobile game new and interesting content.
