Jason Statham’s New Action Thriller ‘Shelter’ Is The Number One Movie on Digital

Jason Statham’s latest action movie is proving to be a hit with audiences on streaming services. Following films like A Working Man, The Beekeeper, and The Meg 2: The Trench, Statham returns with another high-octane thriller. He teams up again with director Ric Roman Waugh (known for Angel Has Fallen) in this action-packed story where Statham plays a one-man force. While the movie didn’t do as well in theaters, it’s found a large audience online, with viewers loving the latest installment of Statham’s action films.

Jason Statham’s new action thriller, Shelter, is currently the number one movie on digital streaming platforms like the Amazon Store. It quickly became a hit, even surpassing Disney’s Zootopia 2 in popularity. While Shelter initially topped the charts on Apple TV+, it’s now in second place, having been recently overtaken by Alvin and the Chipmunks.

While not Jason Statham’s most groundbreaking film, Shelter is a solid action movie. Statham plays Michael Mason, a man living a secluded life in Scotland with a mysterious past. When he saves a girl from the ocean, his quiet existence is shattered by a military attack. This forces Michael to track down those responsible and reclaim his peaceful life. The film also features performances by Bill Nighy, Naomi Ackie, Daniel Mays, Harriet Walter, Bronson Webb, and Bryan Vigier.

Despite not being a box office success, Shelter is followed by a long-awaited collaboration that fans are excited about.

Jason Statham Is Reuniting With Guy Ritchie Once Again!

Columbia Pictures

Jason Statham action films are always enjoyable, but when he collaborates with director Guy Ritchie, the results are often exceptional. Their partnership started with the film Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels and continued with the highly acclaimed Snatch. They’ve recently reunited for films like 2021’s Wrath of Man and 2023’s Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre.

The upcoming film, Viva La Madness, is based on a novel by J.J. Connolly and serves as a follow-up to his earlier book, Layer Cake. Despite this, the movie adaptation directed by Guy Ritchie and starring Jason Statham will not connect to the previous Layer Cake film with Daniel Craig. Instead, Statham will be playing an older version of Craig’s original character. While the full storyline remains a secret, Vinnie Jones – known for his roles in films like Snatch and Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels – has joined the cast.

When Does Jason Statham’s ‘Shelter’ Come to Streaming?

This trailer, much like other Jason Statham films, gives you a good idea of what the full movie will be like. If you’re hesitant to buy or rent it, you’ll likely wait until it becomes available on a streaming platform.

I was so excited when Shelter finally came out in theaters, and it wasn’t long before I could rent or buy it digitally. But I’m still waiting to find out where I can stream it! There’s no news yet on which service will get the movie, which is a little frustrating. It’s tough to guess, honestly. Some of Jason Statham’s other films, like The Beekeeper, are on places like Prime Video and Peacock. Then there’s A Working Man, which you can always find on MGM+ and sometimes on Prime Video too. Hopefully, Shelter will show up on a streaming service soon!
