Sydney Chandler, who stars in Alien: Earth, shared some good news about Season 2. In an interview with Deadline, Chandler, who plays the character Wendy – a unique hybrid with a child’s mind in an adult synthetic body and leader of the Lost Boys – revealed that filming is expected to start in May 2026. However, she also mentioned she hasn’t had a chance to read the scripts for the new season yet.
Just six days after Dana Gonzales – the executive producer and director of four episodes from Season 1 of Alien: Earth, who also handled cinematography for the first episode – announced on Instagram that work on Season 2 had started, a photo has confirmed the production is moving from Thailand to Pinewood Studios in London. Pinewood has a long history with the Alien franchise, having been used to film Alien, Aliens, Alien 3, and Prometheus. Gonzales shared their excitement, stating they were beginning the journey of building the world of Alien: Earth in the very place where the Alien universe began.
The first season of Alien: Earth ended with hints of what’s to come. Wendy and her group, including the Lost Boys and two Xenomorphs, have taken over the Prodigy research island and plan to be in charge. At the same time, the Weyland-Yutani Corporation is attacking the island, which could lead to a large-scale war and the spread of Xenomorphs. Adding to the mix is Ocellus, a conscious, floating eye that’s controlling the body of a deceased scientist. These storylines promise exciting developments and suggest bigger connections to the overall Alien universe and its history.
Based on the production schedule of Alien: Earth Season 1, we can estimate when Season 2 might arrive. Season 1 began filming in July 2023 but was paused in August due to the actors’ strike. Filming resumed in April 2024 and finished in July. The season premiered on August 12, 2025 – thirteen months after filming wrapped. If Season 2 follows a similar timeline and isn’t delayed, it could potentially be released next year. A 2027 release for Season 2 would also make us wonder when 20th Century Studios plans to release the follow-up to Alien: Romulus.
As a huge fan, I was thrilled to see Alien: Romulus hit theaters on August 16, 2024, and it really delivered – critics and audiences loved it! Now, everyone’s wondering what’s next. A sequel is being planned, but apparently Fede Alvarez won’t be directing. I’m curious to see if the studio will follow Lucasfilm’s lead and release both an Alien movie and a series in the same year, like they did with The Mandalorian and Grogu and Ahsoka Season 2. Or will they pace things out, giving us one Xenomorph-focused project each year? From what I understand, Season 2 of Alien: Earth is already pretty far along in production, and that might push the Romulus sequel all the way to 2028 if the studio wants to avoid overwhelming us with Alien content. It’s a good problem to have, honestly!
