Major OG Ted Lasso Character’s Season 4 Return Revealed In New Apple TV Teaser

Apple TV has released a new teaser hinting at the return of a key character from Ted Lasso in season four.

Despite appearing to conclude in 2023 after its third season, Ted Lasso will return for a fourth season later this year. This new chapter of the popular comedy-drama will explore what happens next, though it wasn’t initially clear which characters from past seasons would be featured.

Apple TV has released a short teaser confirming that Coach Beard will return for season 4 of Ted Lasso. The video shows a clapboard for episode 4 of the new season, then pans to reveal Coach Beard reading a book called Soccer Women. He quickly looks up, as if he’s heard something. Brendan Hunt plays Coach Beard, a key character in Ted Lasso. He’s been a friend and assistant coach to Ted for years, and while his advice is usually practical, he doesn’t always deliver it as gently as others. Despite this, he’s dedicated to both his work and his personal life.

Okay, so the end of Ted Lasso season 3 totally got me! Beard faked appendicitis just to stay in London – can you believe it? He realized he had something really special with Jane and knew a future with her wouldn’t work if he went back to the States. It was super sweet seeing them get married in this really cool, pagan ceremony. And honestly, it was great to see him even inspire Trent to finally change that awful draft title! It was a really satisfying ending for him.

Brendan Hunt will be returning as Beard for season four of Ted Lasso. He joins Jason Sudeikis (Ted), Hannah Waddingham (Rebecca), Annette Badland (Mae), Juno Temple (Keeley), Brett Goldstein (Roy), and Jeremy Swift (Leslie), who are all also set to return.

Season 4 will feature several new faces, including Rex Hayes, Abbie Hern, Jude Mack, Faye Marsay, Tanya Reynolds, and Aisling Sharkey. Also, Grant Feely will now play Ted’s son, Henry, after a change in actors for that role.

Details about season four of Ted Lasso are still mostly a secret. While it’s expected Ted will be back to coaching, it seems likely his assistant, Beard, will join him. Where their story will go next is still unknown.

As a huge fan, I’m so relieved to know that Ted Lasso season 4 is officially slated for summer 2026! That means we won’t have to wait too much longer to find out what Beard’s been up to and how big of a role he’ll play. Honestly, I have no idea what’s going to happen, but I’m betting it’ll be both incredibly funny and genuinely touching – just like the rest of the show.
