Marvel’s Daredevil: Born Again is a dark and realistic series on Disney+ featuring Charlie Cox as Daredevil and Vincent D’Onofrio as the villain Kingpin. The first season debuted on March 4, 2025, and was well-received by critics, establishing a conflict between Daredevil and a corrupt mayor who’s made the entire city distrust masked heroes. Season 2, with eight new episodes continuing the story, will be available on Disney+ starting March 24.
The new trailer for the season gave fans a good look at some returning characters everyone was excited about. But one character people were especially hoping to see still hadn’t appeared.

A recent preview for the next season confirms Tony Dalton will be back as Jack Duquesne, also known as the Swordsman. The short clip gives fans a first glimpse of the character and shows him talking to someone in a dimly lit room.

Jack Duquesne was first introduced in the Disney+ series Hawkeye, which debuted in November 2021. He was presented as a wealthy man engaged to Eleanor Bishop, the mother of Kate Bishop, the new Hawkeye. Initially, he seemed like a potential villain, wrongly accused of murdering his uncle and stealing Clint Barton’s original Hawkeye sword. However, the series finale surprised viewers by revealing Eleanor as the true mastermind, working with Kingpin, and Duquesne ultimately joined forces with the heroes.
After that, Duquesne appeared in Season 1 of Daredevil: Born Again, showing up in several episodes, including the season finale.

The show revealed he had been secretly fighting crime as a vigilante in New York City, which immediately made him a target for Mayor Fisk. By the end of the season, he was imprisoned in Kingpin’s hidden underground jail, along with other vigilantes Fisk had captured.
Will Swordsman Have a Bigger Role in Daredevil: Born Again Season 2?

The recent glimpse of Dalton in Season 2 suggests his character will have a much bigger part to play. While Season 1 showed him as a wealthy and powerful figure who stayed out of the action, it looks like Season 2 will see him become more directly involved.

In an interview with ComicBookMovie’s Josh Wilding, Dalton admitted the new season was physically demanding, explaining he performed a lot of action sequences.
I did a lot of stunts for the upcoming Daredevil project, and I ended up getting seriously injured. I think I might have cracked a rib, because I was bedridden for two or three weeks and covered in bruises on my back.
Swordsman’s intense training indicates he’ll have a significant role to play this season. The trailer for Season 2 suggests Daredevil will free Duquesne from Fisk’s custody, and Swordsman will probably join Daredevil in fighting back. The trailer also shows Daredevil finding the prison and engaging in a tough fight with a task force opposing vigilantes, making Duquesne’s rescue seem very likely.
The first season ended with Matt Murdock vowing to fight against Wilson Fisk’s criminal empire, and it looks like season two is building a team to help him do just that. Krysten Ritter is back as Jessica Jones, reprising her role from the Netflix series for the first time in four years. Photos from the set suggest Angela del Toro will become the new White Tiger, taking over after the death of her uncle, Hector Ayala.
I truly believe Duquesne is a perfect fit for what Matt’s building. He’s an incredible swordsman, he’s used to taking the law into his own hands when necessary, and he has a real reason to go after Fisk. It just makes sense that he’d join our fight.
