MCU’s Fantastic Four Might Expand in Avengers: Doomsday

If a recent rumor proves true, the Fantastic Four team in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday movie might actually consist of six members instead of the usual four.

The Fantastic Four team – consisting of Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic, Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm/Invisible Woman, Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm/Human Torch, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm/The Thing – was first introduced in last year’s The Fantastic Four: First Steps. These four heroes make up Marvel’s First Family.

The Fantastic Four haven’t always been a group of just four people. In their early adventures, they were joined by H.E.R.B.I.E., a robot created by Stan Lee for the 1978 animated series. He was added to the team because the creators didn’t have the rights to use the Human Torch at that time.

How will the Fantastic Four roster expand in Avengers: Doomsday?

During the “First Steps” storyline, Reed and Sue Richards had their son, Franklin, expanding the Fantastic Four to five members. Now, according to a report from MAJESTIC_ucm on X (formerly Twitter), the upcoming “Avengers: Doomsday” movie will introduce their other child, Valeria, Franklin’s younger sister. This is why some fans have suggested changing the team’s name to the Fantastic Six.

A source says Valeria’s birth will mirror the comics: Doctor Doom will help deliver the baby, and she’ll be named Valeria. During the birth, Doom will reveal he once had a wife and son, both named Valeria and unknown respectively, who both passed away. Reed and Sue are naming their daughter Valeria to honor Doom’s late wife.

It’s still unclear how Marvel will portray the complex connection between Doctor Doom and the Fantastic Four. According to MyTimetoShineHello, who reported this in January, Doom will ask the Fantastic Four for assistance with a dangerous problem called incursions. The source says Doom, along with the Fantastic Four and Steve Rogers, will travel to the main Marvel Cinematic Universe to warn its heroes about these incursions.

Reports indicate Doctor Doom will start out seeming like an ally to heroes like the Fantastic Four and Avengers, but will eventually be revealed as the main villain. According to reliable sources, MyTimeToShineHello and James Mack, Doom will be responsible for Loki’s death in the upcoming film, as he needs to eliminate Loki to gain control of the Multiverse.

Marvel fans will finally see Doctor Doom’s villainous plan unfold in Avengers: Doomsday, which comes to theaters on December 18, 2026.
