I need to be honest about something – I’ve accumulated far too many streaming services. At first, when I chose to go the “cord-cutting” route, I didn’t anticipate amassing such an extensive collection of top-notch streaming platforms. Consequently, my monthly expenses have grown to a point where they surpass what I would pay for cable. As the cost of living continues to skyrocket day by day, I’m now faced with the difficult task of scaling down some of these platforms, potentially missing out on some exciting TV series that are set to debut in 2025.
For now, I’m considering to pause or cancel my subscriptions for Paramount+ and Peacock (until a future WWE event), as well as Netflix until finances improve. However, I’m unwilling to part ways with my YouTube Premium account, which I value greatly and wouldn’t think of cancelling under any circumstances. Here’s why…

YouTube Premium Is Honestly The Subscription I Use The Most
It’s worth noting that I spend a considerable amount of time on YouTube, to the point where it might surpass my usage of other primary streaming services. From free movies and unique documentaries, to camping videos, cooking channels, or just some ambient noise for work or relaxation in the evening, YouTube always seems to be my go-to platform.
Apart from that, I also find it convenient to download various contents like albums, concerts, or audiobooks from YouTube to enjoy on my phone during travel. This came in handy during a recent long road trip with many hours of driving between campsites. The interface is straightforward, and the wide array of choices makes it a cost-effective entertainment solution that’s absolutely worth it.

It Helps That I Am Grandfathered In At A Cheap Price, But Even At Full Price, It’s Worth It
Initially, YouTube Premium (which was known as YouTube Red) wasn’t part of my subscription plan, but I got it when I signed up for Google Play Music, an exceptional service that later transformed into YouTube Music. For more than a decade now, I’ve been enjoying the affordable price of $7.99 per month due to this arrangement. Whenever the monthly fee has increased for new subscribers, I’ve managed to keep my rate, giving me a sense of having a budget-friendly apartment in New York City that never seems to rise in rent.
Indeed, I’m open to shelling out $13.99 each month for this service (YouTube Music remains part of the package, but there’s no reduced rate for a YouTube TV subscription). Frankly, I believe that YouTube Premium offers the best value for money when it comes to streaming entertainment.

Plus, I Don’t Think I Could Ever Go Back To Dealing With All Those Ads
One major factor that prevents me from deleting my account is the constant annoyance of ads. Sometimes, the app logs me out and plays ads between videos (or even during long videos), which disrupts my viewing experience significantly. These ads are not only jarring but also repetitive and annoying. I find myself avoiding using the service at social gatherings to avoid ad interruptions while watching shows like “Trapped in the Closet” or “Guy on a Buffalo” videos, as they tend to play ads frequently.
To put it simply, I’m deeply committed to my YouTube subscriptions and I don’t foresee that changing. However, I do take care to keep my children away from the time-consuming nature of this application.
