Virgin River Season 7 Will Officially Improve 1 Overlooked Relationship

Fans of Netflix’s Virgin River will be happy to hear the show is returning for a seventh season! The new season promises plenty of drama and will focus more on a relationship that hasn’t gotten much attention until now. You can expect the new episodes to arrive in just two weeks.

The characters we love in Virgin River – Mel, Jack, and the rest of the town – will continue to navigate life’s ups and downs as they move into new chapters. Season 6 introduced several key storylines that will be central to season 7, including Mel and Jack trying to start a family, Lizzie’s journey into motherhood, and Muriel’s battle with cancer.

Despite the challenges the show is facing, season 7 of Virgin River will focus on developing a relationship that fans have been wanting to see more of.

Muriel & Hope Have Been Frenemies Since Virgin River Season 1

As a big fan of Virgin River, one thing I’ve noticed is how generally peaceful the town is. Most of the drama doesn’t come from within the community, but rather from outside forces – things like Calvin’s drug operation or Paige dealing with her ex. But if I had to pick two characters who just haven’t gotten along for most of the series, it’s definitely Hope and Muriel. Their relationship has been consistently strained, which is a bit of a contrast to the overall harmony of Virgin River.

Muriel and Hope are very different people, leading to frequent disagreements. Hope finds Muriel to be dramatic and excessive, and Muriel doesn’t share many of Hope’s interests. Things are further complicated by the fact that Muriel developed feelings for Doc when he and Hope were briefly apart.

Okay, so it’s not all bad between Muriel and Hope. Over the six seasons of Virgin River, we’ve seen little glimmers of a friendly connection – like Muriel teaching Hope backgammon and backing her run for mayor. But honestly? It feels like their relationship has been seriously overlooked and hasn’t gotten the attention it deserves. It’s like the writers just haven’t really developed it, which is a shame.

Hope & Muriel’s Relationship Has Been Mostly Overlooked

By the end of Virgin River season 6, Hope and Muriel have improved their relationship, and most of the conflict between them has faded. However, their friendship still doesn’t feel as strong or close as some of the other relationships on the show.

As a film buff, I’ve been really invested in seeing how these characters develop, and it’s great to see even Brady, Jack, and Preacher – who started out in such a rough spot – actually building a solid connection. Honestly, considering Hope and Muriel didn’t have nearly as much animosity to overcome initially, it feels natural that their friendship is blossoming faster than the bond between the Marines. It just makes sense for their story arc.

As fans await season 7 of Virgin River, Netflix has shared a sneak peek, revealing a deepening bond between Hope and Muriel. With Muriel battling cancer, Hope is stepping up to support her, mirroring Muriel’s own care for Hope after her brain injury. It’s a fitting turn of events, as they’re now each other’s support system.

The photo shows Muriel snuggled on the couch with a blanket, being held and comforted by Hope. It’s a particularly tender and loving moment between them, something we haven’t seen before.

Muriel has been kind to Hope, which is a new development. The focus on their connection promises to make this season of Virgin River one of the most enjoyable so far.
