Verdict on The Clock

Recap

A family buys an antique grandfather clock for their house, but they quickly realize it’s cursed. As the curse takes hold, their loved ones start turning against them.

Best Parts

The idea of a cursed object bringing misfortune to a family is a classic horror trope, but it works well because the story can unfold in many different ways. The most effective and enjoyable moments happen when the focus stays on the family and the unsettling events they experience.

Worst Parts

Many of the frightening events happen to people the family knows, like friends and neighbors. This can lessen the emotional weight of the danger when it finally reaches the immediate family. By the time the core family is directly threatened, the scares don’t feel as powerful.

Final ThoughtsThe Clock has a good idea, but the scare comes in the wrong places.
