Warner Bros. is planning a strong lineup of films for 2027, with at least six major releases including new installments in the Batman and The Lord of the Rings franchises. The studio had a record-breaking 2025, being the first to launch six movies in a row that each earned over $40 million domestically. Although 2026 is predicted to be another successful year, Warner Bros. is already preparing for a massive 2027.
During Warner Bros.’ recent earnings call, CEO David Zaslav emphasized seven key movies planned for 2027, predicting they will be major successes for the studio. Warner Bros. already achieved a historic milestone in 2025 by releasing six films in a row that each earned over $40 million domestically. Although 2026 promises strong new releases, Warner Bros. is positioning 2027 to be one of its most significant years for films in a long time.
7 Biggest Warner Bros Movies Being Released in 2027
Godzilla x Kong: Supernova

Following the success of Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire in 2024, Warner Bros. is already planning a sixth installment in the Monsterverse series, titled Godzilla x Kong: Supernova. Grant Sputore will direct the movie, and David Callaham and Michael Lloyd Green will write the screenplay.
The upcoming film, Supernova, boasts a strong cast featuring Kaitlyn Dever, Dan Stevens, Jack O’Connell, Delroy Lindo, and Sam Neill. Dan Stevens will be returning as his character from The New Empire. The movie is scheduled to hit theaters on March 26, 2027, though details about the story are currently being kept secret.
Man of Tomorrow

James Gunn is directing the fourth film in the new DC Universe, a sequel to his Superman movie called Man of Tomorrow. The movie will feature returning stars David Corenswet as Superman, Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, and Frank Grillo as Rick Flag Sr., and will introduce Lars Eidinger as the villain Brainiac.
The next movie will feature Clark Kent and Lex Luthor working together, despite their rivalry, to fight a new, even greater enemy: Brainiac. Although it’s unknown if other heroes will join them, this film is set to be larger in scope than any previous DC movie. Brainiac plans to use his incredible intelligence to add Earth to his massive collection of conquered planets.
Man of Tomorrow will debut in theaters on July 9, 2027.
Minecraft 2

Following the huge success of the first Minecraft movie – earning close to $1 billion in 2025 – Warner Bros. approved a sequel, A Minecraft Movie 2, in October of the same year. Jared Hess will once again direct, and he’s teaming up with Chris Galleta to write the screenplay.
Currently, no actors from the first Minecraft movie—or any new additions—have been officially announced for the cast of Minecraft 2. The movie is scheduled to be released in theaters on July 23, 2027.
The Conjuring: First Communion

After the success of the first nine movies in The Conjuring Universe, Warner Bros. revealed plans for a new prequel in September 2025. The film, now titled The Conjuring: First Communion, will be directed by Rodrigue Huart, with Richard Naing and Ian Goldberg writing the screenplay.
I’m really excited for this new movie, even though they’re keeping everything under wraps right now – no word yet on who’s starring or what it’s about! The good news is, we have a release date: September 10, 2027. I’ve already marked my calendar!
The Batman – Part 2

Following the success of Matt Reeves’ The Batman five years ago, Robert Pattinson will return as the Caped Crusader in the sequel, The Batman – Part 2. The film will also feature returning cast members Andy Serkis as Alfred, Barry Keoghan as the Joker, and Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner Gordon. Joining them will be Scarlett Johansson and Sebastian Stan, both well-known for their work in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
I’m so excited for the next Batman movie! It looks like it’s going to start with Bruce Wayne trying to rebuild Gotham after all the flooding caused by the Riddler. Of course, that kind of disaster is bound to bring out even more criminals, and there are rumors about tons of villains showing up. Honestly, the director’s take on things has me really hyped to see what happens with Pattinson’s Batman next – it’s going to be epic!
The Batman – Part 2 debuts in theaters on October 1, 2027.
Gremlins

Warner Bros. announced in November 2025 that they’re making a new Gremlins movie, essentially restarting the story. Steven Spielberg, who was involved with the original, will be an executive producer, and Chris Columbus – the writer of the 1984 film – will direct.
Currently, details about the story and cast for the new Gremlins movie are still unknown. It’s scheduled to hit theaters on November 19, 2027.
The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum

Warner Bros. is heading back to Middle-earth with a new live-action Lord of the Rings film, The Hunt for Gollum, marking the first return to the world since 2014. Andy Serkis, who previously worked on the films, will direct and once again play Gollum/Smeagol. Fan favorites Sir Ian McKellen as Gandalf and Elijah Wood as Frodo Baggins are also confirmed to return.
This movie serves as a prequel connecting the events of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, set two decades before The Fellowship of the Ring. The story focuses on Aragorn, known as Strider, as he searches for Gollum to stop Sauron from discovering the location of the One Ring.
Currently, The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum is scheduled to come out in theaters on December 17, 2027 – the same day as Marvel’s Avengers: Secret Wars.
