Frieren Officially Returns Tomorrow With Its Best Arc Yet

Season 2 returns on Friday, February 27th after a week off, and it’s kicking off a brand new story arc! Fans can expect this arc to be one of the highlights of the series so far.

The first five episodes of Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End Season 2 have been relatively smooth sailing for Frieren, Fern, and Stark. But things are about to get much more challenging with the start of the “Divine Revolte Arc,” named after a powerful demon. This arc is known for its incredible battles in the original manga, and fans can expect the action to ramp up significantly in Episode 6 of Season 2 (Episode 34 overall), titled “A Demon-Slaying Request.”

The Frieren Anime is Coming Back From Its Short Break Following the 2026 Winter Olympics

I was really looking forward to Frieren Season 2, Episode 6 on February 20th, but then MADHOUSE announced a bit of a change of plans! They dropped a gorgeous new key visual for the Divine Revolte Arc and let us know the episode would be delayed a week. It turned out the reason was a special broadcast, and it actually caused a delay for Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3, Episode 8 too! So, the new arc of Frieren finally kicked off on February 27th instead.

To keep fans engaged while they waited for the new season, Frieren held a special online screening of a few episodes from Season 1 on February 20th. The screening, which was only available in Japan, included episodes 21, 24, 25, and 26. These episodes were selected because they focused on two important characters, Genau and Methode, from the Divine Revolute Arc.

The official website for Frieren announced that the next episode will be a thrilling battle featuring Frieren, Fern, Stark, and the mages Genau and Methode against the formidable demon, Divine Revolute. Images released on February 24th on the Frieren X account confirm that this episode promises to be a highlight of the series.

A new trailer released this morning on the Frieren anime’s X channel confirmed this. Given how much Studio MADHOUSE is promoting the next episode, it seems like something amazing is coming.

The Divine Revolte Arc is a Major Turning Point For Frieren’s Story

Based on what MADHOUSE has shown us, the next episodes of Frieren are shaping up to be excellent. The upcoming Divine Revolte arc is shorter than some of the most beloved stories from the first season, but that actually makes it more powerful. To give you an idea, the Aura the Guillotine arc covered about 9 chapters in the manga, while the Divine Revolte arc is just 6 (chapters 71-76 of Frieren).

One of the best things about this story arc is how quickly it gets going. Unlike the previous Aura Arc, which took a while to build up to big battles, this Divine Revolte Arc feels more like a self-contained side story, fitting with the recent episodes. What starts as a seemingly normal mission quickly escalates into a desperate fight for survival, presenting challenges the group hasn’t faced before.

The Divine Revolte is a very powerful Demon General, proving to be one of the toughest opponents the group has encountered yet. This battle sets the stage for many more intense conflicts ahead in Frieren, with even more dramatic fights planned for arcs like the Goddess Monument Arc and beyond.

The Divine Revolte Arc is a significant shift for Frieren, raising the intensity and difficulty of the challenges the characters face. While a more dangerous setting in the Northern Plateau was anticipated, this arc still feels like a big change from the show’s earlier, more relaxed and everyday storylines.

The next episode of Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End will premiere on Crunchyroll this Friday, February 27th, and fans won’t want to miss the beginning of Frieren, Stark, and Fern’s fight against the Divine Revolte.
