Daniel Radcliffe has spoken again about the ongoing rumors that he might play Wolverine in Marvel movies. Despite lots of fan suggestions and online talk, he clarified whether there’s been any actual discussion about him taking on the role.
Daniel Radcliffe again addresses the prospects of playing Wolverine
Daniel Radcliffe recently clarified that he was never approached to play Wolverine, despite online rumors. In an interview with ComicBook.com, he said the idea was purely fan speculation and never seriously considered by the people who could have cast him. He admitted he was pleased by the suggestion, but it wasn’t a real possibility.
He admitted that taking on a role like Wolverine would be a smart move, but he has no desire to follow in Hugh Jackman’s footsteps. He specifically said he’s happy to let Jackman continue to define the character, as it’s become so strongly associated with him, and doesn’t want to be known as the actor who came after him.
He made these comments while promoting his new NBC comedy, The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins, which first aired on February 23rd.
Daniel Radcliffe admitted he isn’t very familiar with the current state of the Marvel or DC cinematic universes. He said he’d need to get up to speed on the Marvel movies before considering joining one, but he’s definitely open to the possibility. However, he’s not actively pursuing a role in either franchise.
Daniel Radcliffe talked about his time in the Harry Potter films, saying it allowed him to finish with large franchises early in his career, which he considered a positive experience. The financial security from the series gave him the freedom to choose projects he was passionate about later on. While he’s open to joining another franchise in the future, he doesn’t plan to do so in the immediate future.
