Following whispers about a beloved character possibly showing up in the upcoming film “Avengers: Doomsday”, it’s been disclosed that there are new developments regarding Ghost Rider. Filming for the fifth edition of Marvel Studios’ blockbuster superhero series is now ongoing, perfectly timed for its premiere on December 18, 2026 in cinemas.

What is the new MCU Ghost Rider update?

Based on reports from insider Daniel Richtman, it seems Marvel Studios has found an actor for the role of Ghost Rider within their universe. This follows news that the studio intends to develop the Johnny Blaze version of the Marvel anti-hero, a character who was previously portrayed by Nicolas Cage in the live-action Ghost Rider films. There’s speculation that Ghost Rider could show up in Avengers: Doomsday and be part of the long-anticipated Midnight Sons movie as well. Previous rumors hint that this fan-loved hero might even take on a leadership role within the supernatural team.

The script for this exciting chapter is penned by Stephen McFeely. In this installment, we’ll witness the return of our beloved Marvel veterans, Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Hemsworth, with whispers suggesting that Chris Evans might make an appearance as well. However, what sets this film apart is the transformation of Oppenheimer’s actor, who will embody Victor von Doom/Doctor Doom in a new, intriguing role. The stellar ensemble cast also includes Paul Rudd, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Florence Pugh, Letitia Wright, Tenoch Huerta Mejia, Kelsey Grammer, Lewis Pullman, David Harbour, Wyatt Russell, and Danny Ramirez, alongside newcomers Pascal and Vanessa Kirby, and Joseph Quinn. In the fifth edition of this series, we’ll see Patrick Stewart reprise his role as Charles Xavier, along with Ian McKellen as Magneto, Alan Cumming as Nightcrawler, Rebecca Romijn as Mystique, James Marsden as Cyclops, and Channing Tatum as Gambit.
