As a die-hard Marvel fan, I’m thrilled about Kevin Feige’s latest hint that the Avengers, X-Men, and Fantastic Four might gather at the Baxter Building in our upcoming blockbuster, “Avengers: Doomsday.” After the release of The Fantastic Four: First Steps, Marvel’s first family will make their next appearance in Doomsday. Get ready for Robert Downey Jr stepping into the shoes of the main villain, Doctor Doom, when Doomsday hits theaters in December 2026!
Kevin Feige on X-Men and Fantastic Four’s role in Avengers: Doomsday plot
In an interview with Marvel.com, Kevin Feige disclosed details about the storyline for Avengers: Doomsday. Since the Fantastic Four are set to team up with both the Avengers and X-Men in this upcoming film, Feige unveiled that all three groups will convene at the Baxter Building – a location that serves as the home and headquarters of the Fantastic Four, which was previously showcased in The Fantastic Four: First Steps.
Feige explained that Doomsday serves as a platform for characters with distinct personalities to interact and discover their compatibility. Additionally, he mentioned that in a film where different worlds are at risk of crashing together, it’s entertaining to observe these characters visiting one another’s homes.
Feige went on, “In the Fantastic Four film, the Baxter Building set likely held no more than four or five characters. However, Doomsday boasts a much larger cast. It’s exhilarating to witness such a bustling interplay.” He also mentioned that observing everyone engaging with each other was an extraordinary and surreal experience.
The Marvel boss likewise expressed his feelings on collaborating with some of the legendary X-Men characters during Avengers: Doomsday. He explained, “For years, this idea seemed almost too good to be true. Deadpool and Wolverine hinted at it. Now, we’re truly exploring it with Doomsday.
In “Avengers: Doomsday,” characters with extraordinary abilities from various parts of the Marvel Cinematic Universe unite to confront the villainous Doctor Doom, portrayed by Robert Downey Jr. The Russo Brothers serve as the directors for this epic showdown.
