Get ready for more monster action! Season two of Monarch: Legacy of Monsters is coming to Apple TV+, and it promises even bigger challenges than before. New trailers reveal Titan X, a colossal creature that could shake up the established order of monsters. The storyline hints that stopping this new threat might take the combined power of Godzilla and Kong, strengthening the show’s ties to the popular MonsterVerse films.
Season 2 of Monarch brings back the show’s talented cast, including Anna Sawai, Kiersey Clemons, Wyatt Russell, and Kurt Russell. The Russells play the same character, Lee Shaw, but at different ages. Kurt Russell recently hinted that the new Titan—or something even more dangerous—will be a major challenge in the MonsterVerse.
Russell recently told MovieWeb that playing Lee Shaw felt like a journey similar to Alice’s adventures in Wonderland. He also hinted that the upcoming season will introduce a danger even greater than Kong and Godzilla. This new threat will force the Monarch organization to completely re-evaluate their strategies, as Russell put it, “We have to survive.”
He’s mainly focused on understanding Keiko’s perspective, especially considering how Alice struggled to adapt in her first year. As Keiko emerges, he’s able to regain his footing, and together they face a threat that seems even greater than Kong or Godzilla. He’s learning alongside them that there are mysteries here we need to solve, but he also understands that survival is the priority. While he’s gained some understanding, he’s also emphasizing that none of it matters if we don’t survive first.
What Is ‘Monarch’ Season 2’s Plan for Titan X?

Apple TV
Fans of the MonsterVerse are anticipating another epic battle in Godzilla x Kong: Supernova, where Godzilla and Kong will face a powerful new enemy potentially linked to Spacegodzilla. The Monarch television series is closely connected to the films, bringing back John Goodman from Kong: Skull Island in its first season and drawing heavily from the plot of the 2014 Godzilla movie. This makes the series a seamless and well-made extension of the MonsterVerse films.
Fans have many ideas about what Titan X could be, with some even suggesting it’s related to legendary creatures like Tiamat or Cthulhu. The second season of Monarch will continue to weave between different time periods, revealing more about the organization’s past. While the main events in the present day will take place in 2017, before the movie Godzilla: King of the Monsters, the characters may face challenges that go beyond just dealing with Titans.
The first season of Monarch introduced the idea of time travel using changes in time speed. Lee Shaw was able to jump nearly 20 years into the future without getting older, while Cate, May, and Keiko leaped forward two years. This creates exciting new challenges for these characters and opens up a potentially fascinating sci-fi element that could be explored further in future MonsterVerse movies. Season 2 of Monarch will start to reveal its mysteries when it premieres on February 27th.
