The last two years have been incredibly successful for Dungeons & Dragons. It started with updated rules for the 5th edition in 2024, followed by many new books adding more content and refreshing older material – often referred to as the ‘5.5’ ruleset. Recent releases include books set in the Forgotten Realms, a new Eberron sourcebook focusing on the Artificer class, and even a vampire-themed expansion featuring Astarion from Baldur’s Gate 3.
Even though Wizards of the Coast hasn’t released much new official content yet this year, players are already creating some excellent unofficial materials. The Kickstarter-funded Chapelwick setting for Dungeons & Dragons is scheduled to ship later this year, offering a new campaign inspired by the cosmic horror of Bloodborne. And now, another interesting project is nearing completion.
You Can Never Have Too Many Minis
Ready, Set, Encounter! Lets You Set Up Encounters Quickly
A new D&D expansion called Ready, Set, Encounter! recently reached its funding goal on Kickstarter. It’s designed to be a big help for players who use miniatures in their games. Ready, Set, Encounter! provides complete encounter kits with miniatures, maps, traps, and tokens, allowing Dungeon Masters to quickly create challenges, even if they’re unprepared or short on time.
The crowdfunding campaign is over, but you can still support the project by pledging through Gamefound. Different pledge levels unlock different rewards. Ultimately, Ready, Set, Encounter! is designed to give you everything you need to quickly prepare for adventures. You can create maps and set up encounters in just minutes. The first volume focuses on dragons and those who worship them, including cultists and kobolds.
Ready, Set, Encounter! Vol 1 Works With Daggerheart Too
The Encounter Kit Works With Multiple TTRPGs
The creators at EverOn Games designed this encounter kit to work with both the 2014 and 2024 rulesets of D&D 5e, and it includes tools for characters of all levels, from 1 to 20. It’s also compatible with the Daggerheart tabletop RPG system from Critical Role, specifically tiers 1 through 4. While built for these two games, the kit is designed to be adaptable—or “system-agnostic”—meaning it can be used with other systems like Pathfinder as well.
Want to make your Dungeons & Dragons games more immersive? Check out Ready, Set, Encounter! It offers fantastic maps and miniatures to elevate your in-person sessions. The crowdfunding campaign is over, but you can still support the project and improve your future games.
