Wuthering Heights continues to soar.
Emerald Fennell’s new film, Wuthering Heights, based on Emily Brontë’s classic novel, recently reached a significant box office achievement. Starring Margot Robbie as Catherine Earnshaw and Jacob Elordi as Heathcliff, the movie opened over Valentine’s Day weekend and earned $32.8 million domestically over three days, making it the highest-grossing domestic debut of 2026 to date.
I’m so thrilled to see Wuthering Heights doing so well! As of this morning, it’s expected to reach a total of $151.7 million worldwide by the end of its second weekend in theaters. That’s $60 million domestically and another $91.7 million internationally. What’s really exciting is that it’s the first film starring Margot Robbie since Barbie to cross that $150 million mark globally – a huge achievement!
Only 11 films starring Margot Robbie have earned over $150 million at the box office, starting with The Wolf of Wall Street in 2013, which grossed $389.8 million. Before Barbie came out in July 2023, the last movie to reach that milestone was The Suicide Squad in 2021, earning $168.7 million worldwide.
Thanks to the success of Wuthering Heights, Robbie has overcome the disappointing performance of his 2025 film, A Big Bold Beautiful Journey. That movie, a romantic fantasy, earned only $20.2 million worldwide despite costing $45 million to make.
More to come…
