Everyone is incredibly excited for the next release, and fans are creating amazing things inspired by it – you won’t believe what they’ve come up with!
It seems like only yesterday that Marvel announced they were bringing back their classic animated series from the late 90s, but the first episode actually premiered on Disney+ two years ago. Now that Season 1 is over, and with no new information available—except for a possible trailer leak—fans are eagerly awaiting updates.
A Marvel fan shared their artwork on Reddit, and it quickly gained a lot of attention. The artwork reimagines the X-Men in their classic costumes from the 2000s, and many fans are hoping this is a hint of what the second season of X-Men ‘97 might look like.
X-Men ’97 — As It Should (And Might) Look
Many Reddit users quickly shared their thoughts on the artwork, which seems to be based on leaked trailer footage. If that’s the case, the artist deserves some understanding for any details they might have missed – and many praised their depiction of Magneto with a beard.
I’m absolutely loving this! It’s just a shame it’s not an official release, it’s a fan-made poster, but honestly, it’s still amazing.
As many have noticed, including one Reddit user who explained it thoroughly, two important characters from the original series are missing: Bobby Drake, also known as Iceman, and Emma Frost.
They started by praising the art, calling it amazing. However, they felt the show itself was missing key characters – specifically Emma, Iceman, and Kitty Pryde. While they appreciated the focus on supporting characters, the absence of these major X-Men heroes made the show feel less like a true adaptation of the source material.
X-Men ’97 Isn’t a Reboot, It’s a Boot … To Your Face
The new X-Men ‘97 series took its story in exciting and unexpected directions, building on the original comics in a remarkable way.
The show abandoned subtlety and fully explored the harsh realities and emotional depths of its characters. This was especially true for Rogue and Magneto, who practically carried the first season with a powerfully moving story that was both captivating and heartbreaking.
Just ask Gambit, because his sacrifice alone will break you.
When Wolverine impales Magneto, revealing a famous comic book scene finally brought to life – the painful removal of Adamantium from Logan’s skeleton as he cries out that their conflict is finished – it became clear that X-Men ‘97 isn’t afraid to push boundaries, and Season 2 promises to be absolutely incredible, leaving viewers eagerly awaiting its arrival.
Season 2 of X-Men ‘97 will debut on Disney+ in Summer 2026.
