Recent James Bond & Mission: Impossible Rumors Get Bad News

Everyone’s been speculating about who will be the next James Bond, and unfortunately, one of the most promising candidates has reportedly been ruled out.

Film journalist Jeff Sneider recently addressed rumors that actor Jacob Elordi (known for his roles in Frankenstein and Euphoria) had been offered the role of James Bond. Sneider debunked the claim, explaining that he’s been informed a script for the next Bond film hasn’t been written yet, making it impossible for anyone to have been officially cast.

According to Sneider, the next James Bond is likely to be a British actor, though a specific choice hasn’t been made yet. While Callum Turner and Jacob Elordi are both strong contenders, details about the next Bond film are scarce. Director Denis Villeneuve is currently focused on completing ‘Dune: Part Three’ before starting work on the 007 series.

What’s the latest James Bond and Mission: Impossible rumors?

During the same interview, Sneider was asked about a rumor that Chloé Zhao – the director of the acclaimed films Hamnet (nominated for an Oscar in 2025) and the 2020 Best Picture winner Nomadland – was considered to direct the next Mission: Impossible movie. Sneider dismissed this rumor as false and unlikely, adding that the source, the gossip site Deuxmoi, isn’t always reliable.

I’ve been reading about the possibility of Chloé Zhao directing a future Mission: Impossible film, and it sounds like it might not happen. Apparently, her experience with Marvel’s Eternals wasn’t the best, and both she and Paramount seem hesitant to team up on this franchise. Paramount really wants the next Mission: Impossible to be huge, so they’re considering other options. However, the interesting thing is, someone suggested she’d be a fantastic choice to direct the new Wonder Woman movie DC is developing, and I think that’s a really exciting idea!
