Season two of ‘Monarch: Legacy of Monsters‘ will feature a battle between Kong, Godzilla, and a brand new, potentially unique Titan. The Apple TV+ show follows the human team behind Monarch, the organization that tracks these massive creatures, and will continue their story from the first season.
The marketing for the new movie has centered around a previously unseen monster in the Monsterverse. While we’ve gotten almost a full look at this massive, tentacled creature from the ocean through trailers and a hidden online clip, it’s already proving to be a frightening opponent. But its most dangerous ability seems to be something even more unsettling than its size and strength.
Titan X Appears To Be Able To Mimic Other Titans
Fans have noticed something interesting in the trailer for Monarch Season 2 and a clip on monarchdeeprift.com: a sound that seems to be part of Titan X’s roar is actually the distinct shriek of Mothra. Keen Godzilla fans quickly identified the sound in the trailer, and it was later confirmed on the website.
It’s unlikely the similarity in sound effects is just a coincidence, especially with a distinct call like Mothra’s. This suggests Titan X might be able to copy the sounds of other Titans, like Mothra. If true, this ability could allow it to avoid detection by Godzilla, perhaps even appearing to Godzilla as a friendly presence rather than a dangerous enemy.
What’s even more concerning is that Titan X seems to be intentionally copying Godzilla’s call, not to scare him away, but to lure him closer. Given its immense size, Titan X might be actively hunting Godzilla, seeing him as a rival to overthrow and potentially even consume, along with other Titans.
Titan X’s Ability May Set Up A Key Plotline From Godzilla: King Of The Monsters
Season 2 of Monarch: Legacy of Monsters continues to take place before the events of Godzilla: King of the Monsters, just like season 1. This suggests that the show’s focus on Titan X’s unique sounds might be building towards a key plot point in the 2019 film. The ORCA, a device built by Emma and Mark Russell, studies these Titan sounds – using sonar to either provoke or calm the massive creatures.
Titan X might have been crucial in the Russells’ development of the ORCA device. They started working on ORCA after the battle between Godzilla and the MUTOs in San Francisco. While understanding human bioacoustics ultimately allowed them to calm Titans, Titan X’s ability to imitate other Titans likely helped them initially create the ORCA’s foundation.
As season 2 of Monarch: Legacy of Monsters unfolds, we’ll likely learn more about Titan X. The trailers suggest it will play a big role, promising plenty of action involving battles with Godzilla and Kong. If Titan X can copy the abilities of these Titans – or any others on Earth or within the Hollow Earth – it could become the most formidable threat Godzilla and Kong have ever encountered.
