Fans hoping for a sequel to Gerard Butler’s action movie Plane are likely to be disappointed. Although a follow-up was announced last year, there’s been little news about it. Now, an actor from the original film has confirmed the project has been cancelled after the lead actor left the franchise.
Mike Colter, who appeared in Plane with Gerard Butler, recently told The Direct that a planned sequel has been cancelled. He explained that Butler decided he didn’t want to reprise his role, even though the movie was just weeks away from starting production. This decision led to the project being shut down two weeks before filming was scheduled to begin.
Gerard Butler unexpectedly decided not to proceed with the project very late in the process. There wasn’t much back-and-forth discussion – he simply withdrew two weeks before it was supposed to happen, leaving us scrambling to find a solution. Ultimately, the project fell apart.
More to come.
