Okay, so I just finished watching “56 Days,” and wow – be warned, there are HUGE spoilers ahead! It’s a really gripping erotic thriller that gradually reveals what happened during a terrible murder over those two months. Dove Cameron and Avan Jogia have incredible chemistry together, but as the show unfolds, you realize both of their characters are keeping some seriously big secrets. It’s a slow burn, but the payoff is definitely there!
Okay, so it turns out Ciara Wyse, who we all know as Cameron, is actually Megan Martin! Can you believe it? And even crazier, Oliver Kennedy – or rather, Oliver St. Ledger – is super rich and has a dark secret. Years ago, he accidentally killed someone, but managed to get away with it by framing Megan’s brother, Shane! It’s a total bombshell, and explains so much about why Oliver was acting so strangely.
Whose Body Was In The Bathtub In 56 Days, And Who Was The Killer?
Megan first sought out Oliver to avenge her brother’s death in prison, intending to make him suffer for what she believed he’d done. However, after seeing how deeply sorry and regretful Oliver was – especially about not taking responsibility for a mistake that led to a friend’s conviction – she began to develop real feelings for him.
Oliver was also being controlled by his therapist, Dan Troxler, who had previously given him career advice in school. Although Oliver wanted to take responsibility for his actions and clear Shane’s name, Dan steered him towards continuing therapy – and collecting large payments, potentially totaling tens of thousands of dollars – while encouraging Oliver to distrust others and stay isolated.
After Oliver fires Dan, Dan tries to blackmail him, threatening to reveal damaging information unless Oliver pays a large sum of money. When Ciara overhears this, she grabs a statue and fatally hits Dan on the head. Ciara and Oliver then work together to get rid of the body, ultimately leaving it in the bathtub.
What Happened With The Police Investigation In 56 Days?
Detectives Lee Reardon and Karl Connolly solved the case of a death in a bathtub, identifying everyone involved. But Lee’s past dealings with a drug dealer put both detectives in danger, and they narrowly escaped an attempt on their lives during the investigation.
I was shocked when Karl decided to take a necklace from Linus Finch – that drug dealer Lee had gotten involved with – and just left it with the murder evidence. Then, Lee did something I understood, though it was a tough call. She asked for herself and her partner to be taken off the case, because of her personal connection to Linus. It was a messy situation, but she did what she thought was right.
The detective now on the case quickly decides Finch is the culprit. As a result, the search for Oliver and Ciara stops, and Lee and Karl are no longer in danger. Ultimately, no one emerges as a hero, but everyone involved manages to move forward with their lives.
Why Did Oliver St. Ledger Go To The Police Station, And Why Didn’t He Hand Himself In?
After the trouble with Dan Troxler, Oliver and Ciara decided to leave the country and begin fresh. Oliver was concerned about Ciara being cut off from her family and, haunted by guilt over Paul’s death for many years, he desperately wanted to find peace of mind.
Oliver asked his friend and boss, Elliot, to drive him to the police station, but he changed his mind as soon as he arrived. Instead, he decided to meet up with Ciara and begin a fresh start. This suggests Oliver has finally moved on from his past, a feeling emphasized by the final scene where he’s shown standing in the water.
What Happened To Ciara Wyse’s Family In 56 Days?
Ciara gets a quick chance to see her family before leaving with Oliver. During this visit, her sister expresses sadness over losing their other sister, Megan, but encourages Ciara to be happy and find fulfillment in her new beginning.
After a while, Ciara mailed a letter to her mother, including a check for two million dollars. Her family had previously faced money problems, but this generous gift from Ciara and Oliver should provide for them comfortably for the rest of their lives.

Most of the story in 56 Days covers a two-month period. The ending jumps ahead at least a year, showing Oliver and Ciara relaxing on a secluded beach. Oliver is standing in the ocean, suggesting he’s finally healed from his trauma, and Ciara cradles their baby, who is named after her late brother and Oliver’s former friend, Shane.
How Does The 56 Days Ending Compare To The Catherine Ryan Howard Book?
The new show, 56 Days, is inspired by Catherine Ryan Howard’s bestselling novel, but it significantly changes the story’s conclusion. In the book, Oliver is exposed as a ruthless and controlling murderer who deliberately caused Paul’s childhood friend, Shane, to die, ultimately leading to Paul’s death as well.
Both boys ended up in prison; Shane received a 20-year sentence, while Oliver, considered an accessory, received only five years. After discovering the truth, Ciara arranged for Oliver to die, staging it to appear as a drug overdose.
In the end, Ciara escapes without consequences, and Lee and Karl are left in the dark about the true killer. They mistakenly suspect the reporter, but lack proof to take any action.
Will 56 Days Get A Season 2?
With only eight episodes, 56 Days is designed as a one-time series and won’t likely have additional seasons. The show has already told the complete story from the source novel, so there’s nothing left to adapt.
