YouTube Dealing With Service Outage

Ugh, YouTube TV is down right now! It’s a huge outage affecting tons of people in the US, and it’s seriously messing up my Tuesday night gaming stream. It’s owned by Google, so you’d think they’d have this sorted out quickly, but it’s been a pain so far.

YouTube is currently experiencing an outage that is impacting both the standard site and YouTube Premium, which includes access to exclusive YouTube Originals.

When did the service outage occur?

The website monitors reports of service and website problems, and it shows that issues with YouTube started around 7:36 PM EST. However, the number of reports quickly increased, with over 3,000 outages being reported by 7:51 PM.

Initially, other users didn’t immediately recognize the problem. It became widespread around 8:06 PM, when reports of over 300,000 outages began coming in. These high numbers of outages continued throughout the 8 PM Eastern Time hour in the United States.

What are users reporting seeing when trying to access YouTube?

For an hour starting at 8 PM Eastern Time, YouTube’s website simply showed a blank screen to viewers…

On the YouTube app, users were seeing a simple error message that said, “Something went wrong. Try again.”
