A new set based on the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is coming soon! It’s a cooperative game called Turtle-Up where 2 to 4 players can team up and play as the turtles to battle challenging bosses. You can expect it to be available on March 6, 2026.
For years, Magic: The Gathering has mostly been played with one-on-one matches. However, some versions of the game let more people play at once, like Commander, which creates exciting free-for-all battles with shifting alliances and rivalries. This new set introduces a team-based experience, and it’s themed around Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles!
Turtle Team-Up Lets MTG Players Work Together
The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Magic: The Gathering set releases on March 6th, and will include standard booster packs and a Commander Deck. A cooperative game called Turtle-Up will also be available, designed for 2-4 players. Turtle-Up comes with four extra booster packs so players can build up their card collections.
Each deck features unique hero characters – for example, Leonardo’s deck includes Splinter. Players can use these decks to battle each other in regular games.
Turtle-Up offers ways to adjust how hard the game is, making it suitable for different numbers of players and skill levels. It also lets experienced players use all their cards for a real challenge. Beyond the cool Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles artwork, the gameplay itself is unique compared to other Magic: The Gathering sets.
Turtle-Up Is A Great Way To Teach MTG To New Players
Playing “Turtle-Up” is an excellent way to introduce beginners to Magic: The Gathering, particularly with guidance from an experienced player. Because players team up against a shared, randomly generated opponent, it minimizes frustration from losing and keeps everyone engaged.
Cooperative games are uncommon in Magic: The Gathering, making Turtle-Up a welcome change. It offers a more traditional board game feel, where players team up and learn the rules as they play. Though designed for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles enthusiasts, it would be fantastic if Magic created more cooperative games like this in the future.
This set is full of fun nods to video games, and it seems like it will be easy for people who don’t already play Magic: The Gathering to get into. It’s a great way to teach friends how to play MTG or introduce the game to a child who enjoys Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, making it a worthwhile purchase.
