The logo for the new DCU series, Lanterns, has been revealed, but some fans aren’t thrilled with the design. Many on social media have pointed out that the logo doesn’t feature enough green, which is strongly associated with the Green Lantern’s costume and abilities.
DC fans aren’t pleased with lack of green in Lanterns logo
The official logo for the new DCU series, Lanterns, has been revealed. Interestingly, despite being about Green Lanterns, the logo mostly avoids using the color green, with only a small touch of it at the bottom.
Many fans were disappointed by the absence of green visuals and shared their complaints online. One fan expressed their frustration on X (formerly Twitter), asking, “Seriously, no green light from a Green Lantern ring?”
Someone shared a logo idea for the show, wondering if it was too much to hope for. They posted the image with the caption, “Was it too much to ask?”
“Couldn’t even make it green? This sucks,” another commenter posted.
I’ve been seeing a lot of reaction online to the new DC logo, and honestly, it’s sparked a pretty interesting conversation. One fan shared a screenshot of another tweet that really hit the nail on the head – it seems like DC is playing it incredibly safe with a very basic white font, almost afraid to inject any real personality into their branding. The original tweeter put it perfectly, declaring, ‘The prophecy is true,’ which, judging by the chatter, seems to refer to a long-held feeling that DC struggles with bold creative choices.
Several users also shared ideas for different logo designs that could have been used for marketing. Some even went a step further and created their own logos, believing they would be more visually appealing.
The new HBO series, Lanterns, is scheduled to debut in late summer 2026. Inspired by the popular show True Detective, it will center around experienced Green Lantern Hal Jordan mentoring new recruit John Stewart as they solve a puzzling murder case in Nebraska.
Kyle Chandler and Aaron Pierre will lead the cast as Jordan and Stewart. Kelly Macdonald will also appear in the series, and Nathan Fillion will return as Guy Gardner, a role he previously played in the upcoming ‘Superman’ film. The supporting cast includes Garret Dillahunt, Jason Ritter, Nicole Ari Parker, Poorna Jagannathan, Ulrich Thomsen, Sherman Augustus, and J. Alphonse Nicholson.
