Katee Sackhoff has shared the release timeframe for the upcoming Carrie series on Amazon Prime Video, and it’s arriving at a great moment for fans. Filming finished in October 2025, and the show is scheduled to premiere in 2026.
TopMob attended a panel with Katee Sackhoff at Fan Expo Vancouver on February 14th, where the actress—known for her roles in Star Wars and Carrie—shared the release month for the upcoming Carrie series. The conversation turned to Mike Flanagan and his interconnected Flanniverse, leading Sackhoff to announce that Carrie will debut in October 2026.

When questioned about the new Prime Video series, Katee Sackhoff stated she couldn’t share any details, but she did offer some information to those present.
The actor, known for roles in Star Wars and Battlestar Galactica, said the new show will feature intense moments, including “fire” and potentially “some blood” – elements often found in projects connected to Stephen King’s Carrie. She also enthusiastically praised director Mike Flanagan, calling him “so good at what he does” and highlighting his commitment to the series.

The movie Carrie is based on a novel by Stephen King. Director Mike Flanagan has adapted several other King works, including Doctor Sleep, Gerald’s Game, and The Life of Chuck. Actress Katee Sackhoff highlighted Flanagan’s talent for bringing King’s stories to the screen, noting that King himself trusts Flanagan and is even letting him adapt many more of his books.
He’s exceptionally skilled at adapting Stephen King’s work, and Stephen King has a lot of faith in him. In fact, as you’ve probably seen in the news, Stephen is essentially giving him free rein over his entire collection of stories, offering him multiple projects and suggesting even more.
In addition to Katee Sackhoff, the upcoming film Carrie will feature Matthew Lillard—who is also reprising his role in the Scream movies in 2026—as Principal Grayle. Samantha Sloyan will play Carrie White’s mother, Margaret White, and Summer H. Howell will star as Carrie White herself.
Carrie’s Strategic Release Window
October is the perfect time to release Carrie, given its connection to Halloween. As a psychological horror story, the film naturally fits the spooky atmosphere of the season, making a Halloween-time premiere ideal.
The new Amazon Prime series will have eight episodes, and the exact release date in October probably won’t make a big difference. Since Halloween is celebrated all month long, and Halloween 2026 lands on a Saturday, it would be a great opportunity for fans to watch an episode of Carrie on that day.
I think releasing Carrie in October is a really smart move, because it could lead to some amazing tie-ins! Like, Universal’s Halloween Horror Nights just built a whole haunted house around the Fallout video game for next year, and something similar could happen with Carrie. It would be incredible to see that kind of exposure!
Given that Amazon Prime Video produced both Fallout and the recent Carrie remake, and Prime Video already partners with Universal for Halloween Horror Nights, it’s likely Carrie could be featured at the event in either 2026 or 2027. Halloween Horror Nights often introduces properties a year after their release, and Fallout’s success at the event makes Carrie a strong possibility.
Even if the Carrie project changes, it’s currently expected that Mike Flanagan’s adaptation will be released around October 2026.
