Taylor Sheridan understands what viewers want, which is why people consistently tune in to his work. His latest success is a very popular show on Paramount+ featuring Billy Bob Thornton, a native of Arkansas, who plays a negotiator between oil companies and the people living in rapidly growing towns in West Texas.
Paramount+ featured the thrilling spy series Lioness, boasting an all-star cast including Zoe Saldana, Nicole Kidman, and Morgan Freeman – three acclaimed Academy Award winners who are Hollywood legends.
Okay, let me tell you, Lioness is absolutely fantastic. I’m telling you, you need to watch it. In fact, watch both seasons right away – seriously, binge them!
James Jordan told ScreenRant that they added exciting aerial combat to the show, using skilled helicopter pilots and showcasing impressive flying sequences.
Let me tell you, watching Forrie J. Smith in both Landman and Lioness was a real treat. He plays Dale Bradley, a seasoned oil guy and roommate to Billy Bob Thornton’s character, and then completely transforms into Two Cups, a member of Zoe Saldana’s elite ops team. Seeing him inhabit these distinct roles really gave me a window into Taylor Sheridan’s creative process – it’s clear Sheridan knows exactly what he wants from his actors, and Smith delivers beautifully in both parts. It’s a testament to Smith’s talent, and a fascinating look behind the scenes of these shows.
Season 3 of Lioness Will Get ‘Deeper’
Jordan believes Sheridan has a compelling plan for Season 3 of Lioness that will be even more captivating and complex than the first two seasons.
He noted that the writing is becoming increasingly complex, and believes audiences are responding well to that. Viewers connect with a character initially, then want to understand their motivations and inner workings. As an actor himself, Taylor is particularly interested in exploring those deeper layers of character.
Jordan explained that they aren’t overly focused on the storyline, and neither are viewers. What really matters, and what keeps people watching, is understanding the characters and their motivations. They’re looking forward to delving into that aspect of the story.
As a huge fan, I wasn’t surprised at all when Paramount+ greenlit a third season – Season 2 blew everyone away, even more than the first! I heard production kicked off in August 2025, and they were already shooting scenes just two months after that. It’s fantastic to see the story continuing!
Although we don’t have a confirmed release date yet, Lioness is coming soon! Based on Season 2 and the preview featuring Jordan, it looks like the show will be even more intense and exciting this time around.
