Fans think a seemingly unimportant place in The Super Mario Galaxy Movie might actually be Bowser’s hidden headquarters – and possibly where his son lives too. In The Super Mario Bros. Movie, Bowser’s base was in a place called the Dark Lands, which comes directly from the Super Mario video games.
However, it seems Bowser won’t stop there after being rescued by Bowser Jr. and potentially Kamek. The title suggests the story will heavily feature cosmic locations, implying that’s where Bowser will go next.
It’s not entirely known why Bowser is going to space, but it’s possible he’s looking for a new place to live beyond the Dark Lands.
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie May Feature Neo Bowser City
Okay, the new trailer for The Super Mario Bros. Movie just dropped, and it’s showing off some seriously cool stuff! I’m particularly excited about Bowser Jr. – he seems to be getting a power-up that looks a lot like his dad’s “Fury” form from Bowser’s Fury. But the real kicker is the setting – it looks like a sprawling city with a massive Bowser statue right in the middle. It’s giving me major Mario Kart 7 vibes, specifically Neo Bowser City, and I think we can expect a unique take on it in the film. It’s a fantastic visual hint and really gets me hyped!
Throughout the Super Mario games, we often see race tracks set in cities and courses themed around specific characters. Neo Bowser City is essentially just that – a cool setting without much story connection. However, The Super Mario Galaxy Movie might change that by giving Neo Bowser City a real role in the overall story.
Since Neo Bowser City appears in the movie, it’s likely to be Bowser and Bowser Jr.’s main base of operations. We’ve also seen a planet designed to look like Bowser, so the city could be the capital of a planet he conquered, possibly even before taking control of the Dark Lands.
Adding Neo Bowser City to The Super Mario Galaxy Movie would be a great choice, as it would stay true to the first movie’s inspiration from Mario Kart. The finale of the first film was clearly influenced by Mario Kart, featuring Mario and his friends racing on Rainbow Road before their final showdown with Bowser.
It’s easy to see how The Super Mario Galaxy Movie could take inspiration from Mario Kart for a spectacular final fight between the good guys and Bowser’s forces.
