The new Boschprequel may have found its substitute for Mickey Haller.
The new series, Bosch: Start of Watch, is a prequel set in 1991 Los Angeles. It follows a young Harry Bosch (played by Cameron Monaghan, known from Gotham and Shameless) as he begins his career as a police officer. Omari Hardwick and Ariana Guerra have also been cast, with Guerra portraying a possible romantic partner for Bosch.
JD Pardo, known for his role in Mayans M.C., will appear in Bosch: Legacy as Cory, a close friend of Harry Bosch who grew up alongside him. Cory is a skilled thief who maintains control through the lessons he learned while in foster care. He developed a knack for understanding people and predicting threats, which helped him navigate a difficult childhood alongside the younger Harry.
Cory is fiercely loyal and eager to leave Los Angeles, so he steps in to fill the role previously held by Mickey Haller. In Michael Connelly’s Bosch novels, Harry and Mickey are half-brothers. However, because Mickey Haller is the star of Netflix’s popular show The Lincoln Lawyer – which is a competitor to the platform featuring Bosch – bringing the two characters together has been legally challenging. As a result, Harry and Mickey have never appeared in the same story.
