Marvel Officially Contradicts the Russo Brothers’ Claim About the Avengers: Doomsday Trailers Not Actually Being Trailers

The official Marvel Studios website recently detailed the four teaser trailers for the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday, but its description differed from what the directors, Joe and Anthony Russo, had previously shared with fans. Though the movie is still months away from release, four short teasers have already been shown, each highlighting a different character or team – including Steve Rogers, Thor, the X-Men, the Wakandans, the Talokans, and the Fantastic Four.

As a huge Marvel fan, I was thrilled to see they finally put all four Avengers: Doomsday trailers in one spot on their website back in January 2026. What was really interesting, though, was the commentary they added about the trailers. It completely contradicted what the Russo brothers had said about them previously – it was a bit of a surprise, honestly!

Marvel’s website initially described the short video clips as either “teasers” or “trailers.” But after the fourth and last of these clips was released, the directors, the Russo brothers, clarified on Instagram that they weren’t actually teasers or trailers at all. They explained that these videos were more like “stories” and “clues.”

Those short videos you’ve seen over the past month aren’t just previews. They’re actually mini-stories and hints about something bigger. Keep a close watch – everything is connected.

Marvel presented the trailers as standard promotional material, like those released for most big movies, and didn’t hint that they contained any story details or clues about the larger plot. They treated them purely as a way to start the marketing campaign.

This contradicts what the Russo brothers recently shared on social media. They hinted that the trailers were connected to a bigger story and that their significance would be revealed soon.

Will the Next Avengers: Doomsday Trailer Reveal the Russos’ Big Tease?

Although fans have seen four short previews for Avengers: Doomsday, more footage is on the way. As the December 18th release date gets closer, Marvel Studios will likely share a full trailer, another trailer, and several short TV commercials.

These new trailers might help explain the mysterious hints the filmmakers dropped after the first four teasers. If each teaser shows a different story, one of the trailers could show how they all link together or how they contribute to the overall plot of Avengers: Doomsday.

There’s also a chance we’ll never get a clear answer from new trailers or clips. If future trailers don’t connect to the initial teasers, the filmmakers, the Russos, will probably explain their meaning as part of the movie’s overall marketing campaign, or after the film comes out.

It’s hard to know exactly what the filmmakers intended, but the teasers might show the scenes in the order they’ll appear in the movie. Perhaps the film will begin with Steve Rogers, then focus on Thor, introduce the X-Men, and finally feature the people of Wakanda.

The previews might be highlighting each character or team right before they first meet Doctor Doom. If so, we could see a trailer focused on Doom soon, showing him appearing in each of those earlier moments.

It’s unclear what those teasers meant or why the Russo brothers hinted at something bigger, but it’s strange that Marvel didn’t suggest they were connected to a larger narrative. They seemed to contradict themselves by acting as if the teasers were insignificant.
