I’m really disappointed that Prime Video canceled one of their most promising sci-fi shows after only one season. It had so much potential, and I was really excited to see where it could go!
Prime Video is home to some excellent sci-fi series, including popular shows like Fallout and The Expanse. However, like many streaming platforms, Prime Video has a tendency to cancel shows prematurely, before they can fully develop their stories. This happened to one particularly original sci-fi series that was strangely captivating and drew viewers in completely.
Unfortunately, just when the show was starting to get good, Prime Video canceled it.
Prime Video’s Night Sky Has A Strange But Compelling Story
Prime Video’s Night Sky is a captivating, small-scale sci-fi drama full of surprising moments. The show centers on Franklin and Irene York, played by acclaimed actors J.K. Simmons and Sissy Spacek, an older couple who have a remarkable secret: a portal in their backyard that transports them to another planet.
They had always thought the planet was uninhabited and were content observing it from afar. But their peaceful existence is shattered when a man unexpectedly appears, revealing they aren’t the only ones aware of its existence.
Alongside the main plot, the first season showed that similar protectors exist worldwide, all watching over the portals. These clues suggested a hidden, worldwide – possibly even galactic – organization, and season two would have delved into this mystery.
It was a shame, but just as Night Sky was really hitting its stride and showing what it could do, Prime Video decided to cancel the show.
Prime Video Cancelled Night Sky Too Soon
The mysteries in Night Sky were captivating and kept audiences engaged from beginning to end. But it was the powerful performances by J.K. Simmons and Sissy Spacek that truly made the sci-fi drama moving and believable. The season finale left viewers with plenty of unanswered questions and a huge cliffhanger, building excitement for what comes next.
Unfortunately, the show was cancelled before it had a chance to really hit its stride and develop a compelling story.
Despite coming out only a few years ago, the show Night Sky has quickly faded from view. It had the potential to become a major sci-fi hit for Prime Video, but the streaming service cancelled it after just one season, which is disappointing.
