Following a popular first season, the show will be back on Apple TV for its second season on February 27, 2026. Taking place in the beginning of Monarch’s history, between the events of Godzilla and Godzilla: King of the Monsters, this spin-off series builds upon the stories and characters fans have come to know from the MonsterVerse films.
Ever since the new trailer dropped, fans have been trying to figure out what Titan X, the season’s new monster, actually is. While the trailer doesn’t reveal the creature completely, hints like tentacles and descriptions suggest it lives in the water. This has led many to think it could be Biollante, a famous monster from Toho films that hasn’t appeared in this series yet.
Fan Theories Suggest that Biollante is the New Monster in Monarch: Legacy of Monsters Season 2
The video came out on February 3rd, and the comments section is buzzing with guesses about Titan X. Fans are sharing their theories on Reddit and other social media platforms, trying to figure out what this new creature might be. While some think it’s a brand-new Titan made by Legendary, similar to the Skar King in Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, most believe it could be Biollante.
Biollante first appeared in 1989. This massive, plant-like monster was created in a lab using the DNA of Godzilla, a rose, and the scientist’s deceased daughter. While not technically a Titan due to being artificially created, Biollante remains one of Toho’s most powerful and frightening creatures.
While Biollante and Titan X have some visual similarities, they aren’t exactly alike. Biollante is a plant-based monster, featuring leaves around her neck and a monstrous head with six tusks and sharp teeth. She also has vines, tendrils, and a reddish pouch at her base that glows with energy.
Based on the trailer, Titan X looks somewhat like Godzilla, with a similar head shape, tusks, sharp teeth, and reddish spines along its back. Some fans believe Titan X might be Legendary’s new take on the monster, as its appearance has evolved several times since Legendary obtained the rights.
Titan X appears to be able to battle both on land and in the ocean. While not an ocean god like some believe, Biollante can fight and move effectively in both environments. Fans speculate there’s more to learn about Titan X this season, and the idea that it’s an ancient sea creature might be proven wrong later on.
Fans have pointed out a major similarity between the two creatures: their tentacles or vine-like appendages. The Titan X trailer clearly shows this, with the creature using squid-like tentacles to pull a ship underwater. The fact that these tentacles also function as legs further strengthens the connection.
Biollante’s Appearance in Monarch Season 2 Could Set Up Godzilla x Kong: Supernova
Honestly, we don’t know a ton about the new Godzilla x Kong movie, Supernova, right now, but everyone’s saying Godzilla and Kong are about to face their most dangerous enemy yet. And that’s got me so hyped!
Early ideas for the movie’s title included ‘Zeus’ and ‘Hydra’, as that was originally the working title. Some fans also believe we might see Gryphon, a monster originally created for an unmade ‘Godzilla’ film from 1996. But the most significant rumor is…
A credit listing for the Writers Guild of America that went viral in December 2025 mentioned SpaceGodzilla as source material for a film, which sparked a lot of excitement and speculation among fans about the monster potentially returning. This also fueled theories about the possible reappearance of Biollante, as the two characters are closely linked.
In the film Biollante, the monster escapes Godzilla by breaking apart and flying into space. Five years later, Godzilla vs SpaceGodzilla reveals that some of Biollante’s cells combined with a space organism, ultimately creating SpaceGodzilla.
Some fans believe that Biollante’s appearance in Season 2 of Monarch could explain how SpaceGodzilla appears in the upcoming Supernova film. The theory suggests Biollante might be launched into space, similar to what happened in her own movie, and this could lead to SpaceGodzilla’s creation and the events of Supernova.
While Biollante could be the origin of the villain, she isn’t the only possibility. As seen in Godzilla vs Mothra, G-cells were accidentally spread into the air by Mothra. These cells then entered a black hole, combined with crystals, and transformed into SpaceGodzilla.
While this is a possible explanation, fans believe the events of Monarch Season 2 are more likely to connect to the next film, as the previous movie didn’t hint at this storyline.
Fans are eager to find out if Titan X is the monster Biollante or a completely new creature. So far, details about Titan X are limited to what’s been shown in the trailer. Many believe “Titan X” is just a temporary name used by Monarch, much like they initially called Godzilla “Monster Zero.” Regardless, the second season of Monarch promises plenty of action as it builds up to Godzilla x Kong: Supernova in 2027.
