Warning! This article contains SPOILERS for The Pitt season 2, episode 5.
In season 2, episode 5 of The Pitt, a familiar face appears – an actor currently starring in one of Taylor Sheridan’s popular shows. Overall, The Pitt is quickly becoming a standout addition to the current landscape of high-quality television.
When we talk about today’s high-quality TV shows, it’s impossible to ignore the fantastic work of Taylor Sheridan. He’s really shaken things up with his Westerns and crime dramas. Because of this, when an actor appears in multiple shows within his connected universe, it creates a cool link between the different stories.
Taylor Handley Plays A Concerned Husband In The Pitt Season 2, Episode 5
In the fifth episode of The Pitt season 2, Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Hospital’s busy emergency room gets even more crowded with new patients. One case will especially interest fans of Taylor Sheridan: Roxie Hamler arrives after suffering a seizure, accompanied by her husband, who is played by Taylor Handley.
Roxie has been living with a terminal illness for seven years, and her husband is very dedicated to her care and comfort. Fans of Taylor Sheridan might recognize this storyline, though the character is quite different in his show, The Pitt.
Taylor Handley Also Stars As Kyle McLusky In Taylor Sheridan’s Mayor Of Kingstown

Taylor Sheridan’s series Mayor of Kingstown stands out for its unique premise. The show centers on Mike McLusky, portrayed by Jeremy Renner, who works to keep the peace between the police and the criminal gangs operating in his town. Alongside him is his brother, Kyle, played by Taylor Handley, who provides unwavering support.
As a big fan of The Pitt, I’ve noticed some interesting parallels with this new character, Kyle. He definitely has that same deep love for his wife that we see in the show, but he’s also wrestling with a lot of internal struggles – anger, frustration, and a real lack of self-confidence. The show really digs into those issues over its four seasons. While Kyle’s role in season 2 of The Pitt seems small right now, I’m excited to see how they develop him further in the upcoming episodes – there’s a lot of potential there.
The Pitt And Mayor Of Kingstown Are Two Of The Best Shows On TV
Though The Pitt and Mayor of Kingstown are set in very different worlds and belong to different genres, they share some key similarities. Both shows offer realistic and unflinching looks at overlooked places and institutions. They also benefit from strong acting and filmmaking, and aren’t afraid to push boundaries.
Both shows are truly among the best on television today, and for good reason. With a third season of The Pitt already planned and Mayor of Kingstown quickly heading towards a fifth, it looks like we’ll be enjoying them for quite a while.
