Actor Dave Coulier, famous for playing Joey Gladstone on the show Full House, has announced that his cancer is now in remission. He shared his story on Good Morning America, detailing how he learned about his diagnosis and the treatment he received. Despite a difficult experience, Coulier is staying positive with the help of his loved ones.
During an interview with GMA, Dave Coulier shared that he was unexpectedly diagnosed with two different types of cancer after undergoing a series of tests. Fortunately, the cancers weren’t related, and he discovered them early enough to begin treatment. Coulier, known for his role on Full House, was already battling lymphoma when he received the second diagnosis, which he described as a very difficult and emotional experience.
It’s been a really challenging experience, but I’m now in remission from both of my cancers. It all started when I was getting a checkup for lymphoma. A PET scan showed something in my throat, so doctors decided to investigate. They performed robotic surgery and removed part of my tongue to get a biopsy – it was a very painful procedure. That’s when they discovered I also had carcinoma, and surprisingly, the two cancers aren’t connected at all.
Dave Coulier Hopes His Story Serves as an Encouraging Reminder for Others

Despite receiving difficult news, Dave Coulier has thankfully gone into remission. He’s especially grateful to his wife and Full House co-star, John Stamos, for their incredible support during his health journey. Coulier shared a heartwarming story with GMA about how Stamos cheered him up with a funny visit, wearing ridiculous clothes to lift his spirits.
I honestly don’t know what I’d do without my wife, Melissa – she’s been incredible. I love her so much. And John Stamos is just the best. He actually flew all the way to Michigan to visit me when I was going through a tough time, and he totally cheered me up. He’s like a brother to me! He even put on a bald cap as a joke, and when I saw him, I just burst out laughing. It was hilarious! Unfortunately, he ended up getting COVID while he was here with us. It was so silly – we ended up communicating with walkie-talkies like a couple of kids!
Receiving a cancer diagnosis is understandably scary, but it’s reassuring that Coulier prioritizes his health. He hopes sharing his experience will encourage others to get regular checkups. While he never wanted to be known as a cancer advocate, he believes his story can motivate people to get prostate exams, mammograms, and talk openly with their doctors. Even though he’s currently in remission, he feels cancer is always a concern, emphasizing that early detection is crucial.
