Production for season two of The Institute is underway, and a familiar face from Game of Thrones has joined the cast. Based on Stephen King’s 2019 novel, the TV adaptation premiered on MGM+ in the summer of 2025. Following the success of the first season, the network quickly renewed the show for a second installment.
Alfie Allen, known for his role as Theon Greyjoy in Game of Thrones, will appear in season 2 of The Institute. He’ll play Nolan Reeves, a wealthy tech billionaire who helps fund the Institute.
Allen is the newest addition to the cast of The Institute for its second season. He joins returning stars Ben Barnes, Mary-Louise Parker, Joe Freeman, Simone Miller, Fionn Laird, Robert Joy, Arlen So, Jeff Fahey, and Hannah Galway.
King announced on February 2nd that production for the new season has begun in Halifax, Nova Scotia – the same location where the first season was filmed. He shared a picture of the script’s cover page for the premiere episode, confirming Benjamin Cavell as the writer and Jack Bender as the director.
Bender directed all episodes of the first season, and Cavell wrote or co-wrote many of them. Bender, Cavell, King, Gary Barber, Sam Sheridan, Shane Elrod, and Ed Redlich all served as executive producers on the show.
