I just got a sneak peek at Crime 101, and honestly, the buzz is real. Everyone’s saying it could be the first truly great film of 2026, and I’m inclined to agree. Chris Hemsworth is fantastic as a seasoned thief pulling off one final job. It’s a really interesting shift for him – we’re used to seeing him as this larger-than-life hero, but here he’s much more restrained and cool under pressure. He completely ditches the superhero vibe, and it works brilliantly.
Chris Hemsworth recently told The Guardian about the shift in his roles, moving from the powerful Thor in the Marvel Cinematic Universe to a more realistic character in his new film, Crime 101. He explained that unlike playing a larger-than-life hero, he couldn’t rely on a strong, imposing presence and instead focused on portraying the vulnerability of a desperate thief trying to pull off one last job.
Taking on this role felt really vulnerable, honestly. Usually, I can lose myself in a character by changing my voice or how I physically carry myself – think Thor, or other bigger roles. But this time, it was all about stripping that away and being as open and raw as possible. It was the opposite of what I normally do.
More to come.
