A24 has announced that Hugh Jackman’s new movie, The Death of Robin Hood, will be released this summer. A recent teaser revealed the release date and featured Jackman as the legendary hero. The film is a dark and realistic reimagining of the classic Robin Hood story, directed by Michael Sarnoski, who also directed the films Pig starring Nicolas Cage and A Quiet Place: Day One.
The Death of Robin Hood gets June release date and new teaser
A24 released a new trailer for Hugh Jackman’s upcoming movie, The Death of Robin Hood, on their social media pages. The film is scheduled to hit theaters on June 19, 2026 – the same day as the premiere of Toy Story 5. While Toy Story 5 is a family-friendly animated film, The Death of Robin Hood promises a darker and more adult story.
The brief, 14-second teaser features Jackman’s character walking directly towards the viewer before vanishing in a puff of smoke. It ends with the movie’s title and when it will be released.
The movie’s release date was announced just a month after the trailer came out, giving audiences their first look at the plot. After seeing Hugh Jackman’s appearance in the trailer, fans noted similarities between this version of Robin Hood and his older, more weathered portrayal of Wolverine in the film Logan.
The Death of Robin Hood retells the classic tale of Robin Hood’s final days. After being severely wounded in what he expects to be his last fight, the famous outlaw is unexpectedly saved by a mysterious woman, even though he wants to be left to die.
After recovering, Robin Hood meets a woman with whom he shares the story of his life as an outlaw and the violence he’s committed. He also befriends a young girl, vowing to keep her safe, which gives him a chance to move away from his troubled past and find a new purpose.
I’m really excited about The Death of Robin Hood! Michael Sarnoski didn’t just direct it, he actually wrote the script too, which is awesome. Aaron Ryder, Andrew Swett, and Alexander Black all came together to produce it. And the cast is fantastic – Hugh Jackman is leading things, but it also stars Bill Skarsgård, Jodie Comer, Murray Bartlett, Faith Delaney, and the incredibly talented Noah Jupe. It’s shaping up to be something special!
