Hold Up, Is Kaitlin Olson’s High Potential About To Lose Another Co-Star To A New TV Show?

Without a doubt, even someone not as brilliant as a fictional genius would guess that one of my highly anticipated shows coming back to the 2025 TV schedule is ABC’s High Potential. It’s become essential viewing for many of us at TopMob, whether or not I share others’ opinions about Morgan and Karadec ending up together. However, I desperately hope that the show will either cease losing co-stars before Season 2 or give me no reason to suspect it’s letting go of established characters.

Initially, High Potential introduced Steve Howe, a seasoned vet, as the new precinct captain, hinting that Garret Dillahunt’s character, Lieutenant Melon from Season 1, might not return. Later, JD Pardo, who played Tom, Morgan’s potential love interest, joined the Netflix series Trinity, leaving fans like me with a sense of unfulfilled potential regarding his character. Now, it seems that we should start speculating about Taran Killam’s character, Ludo, and his future in the show.

Taran Killam Just Landed A Show On Another Network

In the realm of High Potential, it’s likely viewers would wonder about Morgan’s childcare arrangements given her busy schedule solving city murders, but thankfully, Taran Killam’s character Ludo, an amiable ex-boyfriend with no issues babysitting children who are partly his, serves as a reassuring presence, making him quite unique and hard to find.

In simpler terms, since Taran Killam’s role was recurring, he appeared in fewer episodes initially. However, when the showrunner mentioned that Season 2 would delve into Morgan and Ludo’s history, I thought it implied that Killam would have a more significant presence, not less.

Nonetheless, the actor won’t magically cease thriving in alternative professions merely due to my desire for Morgan’s children’s safety. Hence, it’s quite logical that he managed to secure a more prominent part in another television series during this period.

As reported by TVLine, Killam is slated to appear in the upcoming comedy titled “Stumble,” which recently received a series order at NBC this week. This mockumentary is expected to be matched with “St. Denis Medical.” The storyline of “Stumble” revolves around the excessively competitive environment of junior college cheer, with Jenn Lyon from “Claws” portraying Courtan, a highly successful coach who has fallen from grace and must now coach an underdog team in an effort to secure a record-breaking championship.

In the latest show, Taran Killam takes on the role of Courteney’s character’s husband Boone, a football coach at Sammy Davis Sr. Junior College. This position might explain why she was employed there. The series also features Jarrett Austin Brown, Ryan Pinkton, Arianna Davis, Taylor Dunbar, and Georgie Murphy, with Kristen Chenoweth expected to make regular appearances as an assistant cheerleading coach.

Will Ludo Get Written Out Of High Potential?

It remains uncertain at this stage how Ludo’s situation will unfold in the series ‘High Potential’. On one hand, given that Ludo is a recurring character, his absence due to Killam’s involvement in another show might not be as noticeable because we are not accustomed to seeing him frequently. If the storylines have been planned ahead, it’s possible for Ludo to film all of his scenes within a very busy week, provided that the second season is not excessively long.

From a less optimistic perspective, having a series regular role on “Stumble” could potentially limit Killam’s availability for filming scenes elsewhere due to his busy schedule. Additionally, the fact that his new show is on a different network might complicate matters further. Unlike Kaitlin Olson, who easily transitioned from shooting “High Potential” to “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” as they were both filmed on the same lot, it may not be as straightforward for Killam to move between productions.

At present, all we can do is cross our fingers that Taran Killam manages to figure out self-replication. However, should he never return, we still have the option to reminisce about the good old times by subscribing to Hulu and streaming Season 1.
