Two NCIS: Los Angeles Stars Reunite For Mystery Movie 3 Years After The Show’s Cancellation

Following the end of the show in 2023, two stars from NCIS: Los Angeles are teaming up again for a new mystery film called …And Then She Was Gone. NCIS: Los Angeles ran for 14 seasons, from 2009 until CBS cancelled it three years ago.

Daniela Ruah and Natalia del Riego, both known from their roles in NCIS: Los Angeles – Ruah as Kensi Blye and del Riego as Rosa Reyes – are teaming up again for a new mystery thriller called …And Then She Was Gone. Production is scheduled to start in Fall 2026, as reported by Deadline.

Based on Karen McQuestion’s novel, The Moonlight Child, the story centers on Niki, a 19-year-old who was raised in foster care and is now learning to live with her new guardian, Sharon Lemke. The plot thickens when Niki and Sharon become intrigued by a strange girl they see next door, leading them to uncover a disturbing secret.

Tawnia McKiernan, a director known for her work on popular TV shows like NCIS, Criminal Minds, Supergirl, The Cleaning Lady, and The Walking Dead, will direct the film. The script is by Justin Kohlas, who previously wrote for NCIS: Los Angeles and worked with Daniela Ruah, who is also an executive producer on this project. Here’s what they had to say:

I loved both the book by McQuestion and Justin’s script right away—Justin is fantastic at building suspense and keeping the story unpredictable. After working with Justin for more than ten years, I’m thrilled to keep collaborating with him on compelling stories, and I’m excited to be involved in a new way this time.

I loved this book from the start, and Justin’s adaptation for the screen is brilliantly reminiscent of Hitchcock’s work. I was thrilled when Daniela and Natalia, both actors I’ve worked with before, joined the project. With such a talented team, I knew I wanted to be involved.

Karen McQuestion is thankful for the enthusiastic response to her novel, The Moonlight Child, and thrilled that it’s being adapted into a movie.

Daniela Ruah, known for her 14 seasons on CBS’s NCIS: Los Angeles, recently appeared in the HBO Max miniseries O Grito, which is in Portuguese. Meanwhile, Natalia del Riego recently starred in the Netflix Western series The Abandons.

Christian Hall is producing the film …And Then She Was Gone for Two Independent Eyes. Justin Kohlas will executive produce through his company, KimberMark, and Riccardo Maddalosso (known for his work on Armageddon Time) is also joining as an executive producer.
