The DC Universe movie lineup has primarily centered around Superman and related characters so far. We’ve already seen Superman, and Supergirl is scheduled for release in June 2026, followed by Clayface and then Man of Tomorrow in 2027. Superman also demonstrated that other heroes can play significant supporting roles, leading fans to speculate about the possible appearance of Martian Manhunter in Man of Tomorrow. This speculation was fueled by a recent intriguing post from one of the co-heads of DC Studios.
While many of you reading this might have a sweet tooth, especially for Oreos, if you found yourself in the DCU, you’d likely be eating Chocos instead. James Gunn went on Instagram to share set design focused around Metropolis’ favorite sandwich cookie, and man, would I like to be in that meeting room at Chocos headquarters. Check it out:

Seeing James Gunn post about Chocos reminded me how much I crave a snack with milk after a long day – though Oreos will have to do! More importantly, it sparked a huge wave of fans remembering Martian Manhunter (J’onn J’onzz) and his love for those cookies. This goes way back to the classic Justice League and Justice League International comics by Keith Giffen, J.M. DeMatteis, and Kevin Maguire. People immediately shared tons of GIFs of J’onn enjoying them!

James Gunn mentioned the official Superman account in a recent post, hinting that the popular Chocos cereal might be connected to the new Superman movie, Man of Tomorrow. The film will feature David Corenswet as Superman and Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, battling the villain Brainiac (played by Lars Eidinger). With a major cosmic threat emerging, and these enemies forced to work together, it seems logical that another alien character could be introduced.
As his superhero name suggests, J’onn J’onzz is from Mars. It’s possible that Brainiac was responsible for the destruction of the Martian race.

As a huge DC fan, I’ve seen a few live-action versions of Martian Manhunter – Phil Morris played him in Smallville, and David Harewood was fantastic in Supergirl. Plus, that big reveal with Harry Lennix’s General Swanwick in Zack Snyder’s Justice League was awesome! But honestly, if they put J’onn in Man of Tomorrow, it would be a game-changer, introducing him to a whole new audience. I’m really hoping we get some news about whether he’ll be in it before the movie comes out on July 9, 2027 – I’m keeping my fingers crossed!
Keep an eye out for the release of Supergirl on June 30th, followed by Clayface on September 11th. Also, the DCU show Lanterns, which focuses on Green Lantern, will be coming to HBO sometime late this summer.
