With 325.1 million views, Demon Hunters has surpassed the previous record of 230.9 million views held by Red Notice.

Beyond its success on streaming platforms, the film significantly impacted the music world. Its soundtrack, featuring the hit song “Golden,” became incredibly popular in 2025, even topping the Billboard Hot 100 chart for several weeks. Given its performance in both streaming and music, it’s not surprising that the film is receiving so much awards season recognition.

The film Demon Hunters has received numerous awards and is now nominated for two Oscars at the 98th Academy Awards. It’s up for Best Animated Feature, and this nomination marks the seventh year in a row that a Netflix film has been recognized in this category.

Netflix Has Had At Least One Nomination For Best Animated Feature Since 2019

When Shrek received the first Best Animated Feature Film award in 2002, Disney and Pixar films often went on to win it as well. But other animation studios have also been recognized, with Studio Ghibli’s The Boy and the Heron and Sony’s Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse among the winners.

I’ve been watching Netflix really step up their game, especially in animation. They first got recognized by the Academy Awards in 2019 with two fantastic films, I Lost My Body and Klaus. Although Toy Story 4 won that year, it felt like the start of something big for them, and they’ve been consistently putting out award-worthy animated content ever since.

For the past seven years, Netflix has consistently had films up for the Best Animated Feature award, including popular titles like Over the Moon, The Mitchells vs. The Machines, The Sea Beast, Nimona, and Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl. In 2023, Netflix finally took home the win in this category with Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio.

This streamer has been consistently releasing popular animated films and shows. Their newest Netflix film, KPop Demon Hunters, has been nominated for an award and is likely to win, making it their second win in this category.

KPop Demon Hunters Has A Great Chance Of Winning Its Oscar Category

I’m really excited because KPop Demon Hunters is looking like the definite winner of Best Animated Feature Film! It’s already taken home both the Critics’ Choice Award and the Golden Globe, which is amazing. Plus, according to Polymarket, it’s the most likely to win, so fingers crossed!

Honestly, I’d be pretty shocked if anything beat KPop at the box office, but there’s definitely some stiff competition this year. Zootopia 2 was a massive hit with both critics and audiences, becoming the second highest-grossing animated movie ever, only behind Ne Zha 2. There are a few other films getting great reviews – Arco, Elio, and Little Amélie or the Character of Rain – but they’re definitely the underdogs in this race.

There’s a good chance Demon Hunters could win two Oscars in 2026, including Best Original Song for “Golden.” The film has been a huge hit for Netflix and is expected to win the Best Animated Feature Film award, further solidifying Netflix’s position as a major player in animation.
